    DELTA BREWING SYSTEMS GIVEAWAY

I just paid my dues. I'm in.

Fill in the blank: I didn’t start making great beer until...

...when I stopped using Cascade hops in everything, because hops are hops, aren't they?

    Is my beer okay??

This is the beginners forum, correct? You guys going to let OP off the hook? If you don't have a "yeast infection", you don't get beer. I'm pretty sure Bracconiere was trying to say everything looked OK. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Beer to Serve at Home Event - Seeking Experienced Advice

I just posted a similar reply in a different thread. My go to brew, lately, has been a Belgian Wit Hoegaarden clone. Whenever I take it somewhere, all I bring home are empty bottles or kegs. Whenever the bash is at my house, it is the first tap to run dry. Easy, light, doesn't need to...

    Wedding beer?!?!

You say you want hoppy, but have you considered a Belgian Wit, instead? This has become my go to brew for parties. Find a Hoegaarden clone recipe. It does not need to sit and age, it is light. Just my two cents.

Constant stuck sparges with my "new" mash/lauter tun

I'm not a false bottom guy, but here are two threads where people have the same problems. Combination of false bottom flexing and heat causing the bottom of the cooler to bow up creating a seal and stuck sparge. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=415552...

    Don't Do That.

Haven't visited this thread in a while. Thought I'd add my latest. Don't unscrew the liquid post on your pin lock keg before relieving the pressure in the keg. Corollary: Don't remove the liquid post first. Fortunately, the keg was as empty as normally possible from the party the day...

    Diluting beer?

Charlie Papazian has a recipe in "The Homebrewer's Companion" called QuarterBock. The theory is a strong beer is brewed with all of the complexities and flavors, then diluted to make a lower alcohol beer with a higher flavor. He starts out with one gallon of a high gravity (1.096-1.100 per...

Why are my hops turning brown

+1 I waited about one hot week too long to harvest my Cascades. I think I threw about half of the yield into the compost. My Nugget, on the other hand, was about 2 weeks behind that and the yield was amazing. Troegs Nugget Nectar, the home version?

Worst Homebrewing Mistakes - HBT Article

Since this is a compilation, I will second a few of the previously mentioned: - Never add LME to cool/cold water. I would have thrown that pot in the trash, but I was going to clean the scorched LME off of the bottom on general principal. - Sanitation. Two cases of Russian Imperial Stout...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Not brewing, but follow up: Racked to secondary (I know, I know), coriander in the 5 for the party, coriander and about 10 black peppercorns in the 5 for me. Next Saturday is kegging, then the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Swap Meet at the White Rose Motorcycle Club in Jefferson, PA.

    Other hobbies besides homebrew..

Motorcycles (2004 Honda VTX 1300C, 1981 Honda CB900C). Both are complete runners. I had to replace the entire charging system on the 900, and I still have the scar below my right eye from attempting to press in a new fork seal for the 900 as well. Maybe I should post that under "Don't Do...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

10 gallons of Hoegaarden clone. 5 for a party, 5 for me. Grains were milled last night, Burner gets fired up in 4 1/2 hours.

    Vinyl flavor from Calcium Chloride?

Is it possible that the flavor is residual from the rinse water from the hose? Have you ever taken a drink of water from the garden hose? Especially in the summer, after the water has been in the hose in the sun?

    Brewing Classic Style book question

And just to apply a little physics, you will lose some volume due to thermal contraction. The cool wort is more dense than the hot wort. About 0.15 gallons between 212 degrees F and 70 degrees F is what the internet calculates.
