    Problem - brewferm mini kegs

Hi, I have a problem. I have the Brewferm mini kegs and tap. They are 1gallon kegs with the tap that goes on top. The problem is that the beer is not clear. It's been given plenty of time to settle but still pouring cloudy. I have tried 2 different beers and both the same, but both beers that I...

    Bottle Conditioning and active yeast?

I'm brand new to homebrewing, a few months. And it's extract kits I'm doing just now. Is the secondary fermentation not done in the bottle/keg? My understanding was this is what carbonates the beer. Are you maybe referring to a 2 stage fermentation? Where you ferment for a few days then...

    Cornelius VS pressure barrel

Hi, I'm from UK. It is a lot more common to use pressure barrels like king kegs etc What are the benefits of using a cornelius style keg instead of a pressure barrel? The cornelius style set up is costing more than double than a pressure barrel in the UK.

    Barrel to bottle?

Apologies if this is common knowledge. Can I, after 1st fermentation put my beer into a pressure barrel for 2nd fermentation/conditioning/carbonisation, then transfer from the tap on the pressure barrel into bottles? Would the beer keep? Would it stay fresh? Would it still be carbonated? Would...

    Bottle sediment

I'm new too :-) Mines has been bottled for 2 weeks and still at room temperature, going to store in cold conditions now but I have been advised to leave it cold for an additional 3-4 weeks minimum to let flavours develop

    Sediment catchers

Yep your right! I was on that website 3 days ago and it was fine, it had a shop page etc, now nothing! Disappointing, I thought it was a great invention and something that would overcome a lot of people who don't do homebrew because of the sediment. I see the patent is up for sale...

    Sediment catchers

Thanks. There still available to buy online from their website but its the cost of shipping that's the issue from Australia.

    Sediment catchers

Does anyone know if the Sedex sediment catchers are available from anywhere in the UK? I watched a review on YouTube and they look amazing! They look like they could be a game changer!! But pricey to get them imported from Australia!

    Ready for bottling i think!

Thanks for the advice everyone, I'm still in learning mode. I took a reading on Friday and then again today and it was the same. I've now bottled and is in a cupboard at about 21/22C, then next week I will put in loft where it's cooler

Fermintation question. First time brewer. Started on this last Saturday

From my limited knowledge it might be related to temperature and what tolerance the yeast you are using has with fluctuating temperature. That's just me guessing as I am also a beginner
