Went with an abstract hop cone design, hope you all like it. I also didn't use any oils and just left the natural wood color. Mine looks terrible compared to some of the other ones already posted up here....those have amazing craftsmanship.
No stuck mashes since using the seal. That being said, I normally add 1/2# of rice hulls for good measure. But, the few mashes I have done without the hulls were fine. Hope that helps
Interesting. Just to make sure I'm understanding correctly, you have the aquarium heater in the growler, which is sitting next to the carboy, acting like a "water space heater" to radiate heat in the fridge?
Also, How many degrees above ambient are you able to get using this method?
The oxygen element is very true, so maybe i am being overly cautious. Either way, I think I'll try out the submersible aquarium heater first just because it seems the safest to me.
I have seen both of these before, but I am using PET bottles so I was concerned about direct heat contact and...
Thanks for the quick reply! I have used a conventional swamp cooler with aquarium heater in a keg tub before so I know it is safe. I just want to make sure it is still safe IN the fridge. I'm assuming it should be....
Hey guys,
I finally have built a fermentation mini fridge hooked up to an STC-1000 with heating and cooling controls. Obviously, I will draw the cooling side from the fridge, but I have a question about the safety of the heating side. I have done a ton of research on this and honestly, the...
Any update on this thread? I'd like to use this as a fermentation fridge as well, but i wanted to confirm that a fermentation bottle fits. ..
Thanks in advance.
The easiest answer is often the right answer but I guess I just didn't want to admit it.
I just don't understand why if I dispense beer on a regular basis the tank will last 4-5 kegs (~3-4 months). If I have a leak, shouldn't it last the same amount of time no matter how often I dispense brew?
I have a mini mystery I need help figuring out.
Okay, so I have a kegerator that works totally fine (no leaks) and my co2 tanks normally last a few kegs. BUT two times I have had a brand new CO2 go empty before it made it through one keg. To explain further, both times this happened the co2...
I added honey to a cider pre-fermentation before. Nothing special really.... warmed up honey (did not boil) just enough to pour easily and added to fermentation vessel before yeast.
I remember the first time I noticed that and I laughed pretty hard. I figured it was just a science nerd joke (I am a science nerd).....but it did confuse me a little bit.
Candida is actually an entire different genus of yeast (the type that naturally grows in our body), so I'm not sure why...
