Water Profile for Two Hearted Clone

I'm brewing up my Two Hearted Clone. I've loved this beer for over a year now. I keep it on tap constantly. However, I've decided to go to blank slate RO water and build my profiles instead of messing with my water profile. What would be good numbers to use for this beer? I couldn't get...

    Water Profiles by Style

I'm a total noob at the water thing. Could someone please provide me water profiles for various styles. I know of the obvious examples of using Dublin's water profile for making your stout and other famous profiles for styels but it would be nice if there was a deeper database that encompased...

Getting the stirbar out of the starter...

I don't know anyone that tries to get their stirbar out of their starter. Everyone that I know just pitches it into the beer with the yeast. I was thinking of using a speaker magnet to keep the bar on the bottom of the flask when I pitch. Anyone do this? Sounds like a good idea to me.

Anyone ever use Whitelabs 051 California Ale V?

My buddy works at a LHBS that's not so local. It's about 50 miles away. He gets me 30% off so when he's coming to town he brings me supplies. I asked for a vial of WL 001 and he accidently brought me 051 (California V). I've never used the yeast but reading the bio it makes me wonder what's...

Need help with a water profile

I've gotten my 5 brewing salts, downloaded Brewater 3.0, and gotten my RO water together (my city water is crap). All I need is a water profile for an American Wheat (Gumball Head Clone). I'm not quite sure what I should do for a typical american beer like this. This is where I'm noobing out...

Ever find a $20 in an old pair of jeans?

Nothing's better than finding that cash that you didn't know existed. Take that feeling of finding a $20 and times it by 100. I found out that I had been put on the wrong pay scale at work for the last year. I called HR. They corrected. I just got a $2000 check in the mail for last...

    Has anyone seen this before?

I ran across this on the interwebz the other day. Apparently it's a drinking console that plays video games, dispenses beer, and has the internet. All for around $4000. I think I'll keep my old PS2 and my kegerator. ARKEG - DRINK n GAME

    Electric Smoker Rig

I just got back from Lowes where I purchased a Masterbuilt 30" Powder Coated Electric Smoker. You set the temp on the top similar to a Digital Johnson controller. You load the wood in from the side so you don't have to open the door. The temp controller also has a timer to shut off when...

Sir Gary Coleman (Little English Mild)

Whachoo talkin' bout Eschatz? I'm talkin' about Sir Gary Coleman! :D My little English Mild has a chocolate/roasted flavor that is balanced by a slight sweetness. Mild bitterness and a great yeast profile. You can brew this and start drinking it from the tap after 14 days. He tastes so...

    Recipes for Gas Grill

I just moved from an apartment to a house. Someone gave me a nice gas grill because they didn't want it anymore. I have no charcoal grill :( In the future I'm planning on getting an electric smoker. Right now I'm looking for tasty recipes for my gas grill. I know how to get things going...

Mash Equations for 10 gal Rubbermaid Coolers

I've got the same 10 gal big orange Rubbermaid Cooler that just about everyone has on HBT. I've been hit or miss on more than a few of my mash temps. I use Beersmith and it gives me a ball park but it never equates for cooler temp because of the lid, sides, etc. As many of you know, the...

    Hop particles in IPA!!!!

I've got this American IPA that I dumped 4 oz of Centennial into the secondary (dry hopping). I always dry hop for 7 days. I never moved the carboy and racked off of the placid beer into a keg. Giant chunks of hop particle are flowing in this beast of a hoppy beer. How do I get it clean now...

    Who's had Stone's 13th Anniv.?

This beer is like liquid hops. The website says they "double dry-hop" it. I'm blown away by the hop character of it. I think I crapped chinook and centennial today after a bottle last night. Can I get an Amen? :rockin:

Will a garden hose hurt my beer?

I've just moved into a new place with a detached garage. No running water. I'll be brewing in this garage. I'm thinking of a utility sink that is connected to a garden hose from the side of the house. I've heard about possible clorine leaks from the chemicals in the hose, not from the water...

    Mash Hopping

I'm brewing Janet's Brown from Jamil's book. For the AG recipe it says, "Reduce the 60 minute Northern Brewer addition by .75 oz (previously 2 oz) and instead add a 1 oz mash hop addition of Northern Brewer". Now, understand about the mash hopping. Here's my question, the wording in the...

    Upland Radfest in Bloominton, Indiana

I'll be at Radfest at Upland today. I don't know why it slipped my mind to post it on here. Party starts at 5 and finishes at 10 it's $25 at the door, $20 in advance. Dress "RAD" to get free food/prizes. I'll be not very rad this time. I'll be wearing a Charles Mingus shirt...
