Is this better or worse than Craigtube?

Even less informative than even craigtube, but somehow I am compelled to keep watching. Linking to the second video in the series as the first starts out in chinese? and is a tiny bit slow at first. The 4th part is funny. Obviously this Jaz company is endorsing the vids, but are they...

    IPA Night!

So to prep my (taste) buds for my newly brewed IPA I decided to go pick up a 6 pack of IPA at the liquor store. I ended up getting a 6 pack each of Sierra Nevada Torpedo, Stone IPA, and Two Hearted Ale. So far I've had a Torpedo and a Two Hearted... I like the two hearted better out of the...

Back to back IPA's, switching the HOPS!

Preface: Alright so last week I ordered ingredients to make an IPA. I made a thread asking for feedback on the hop schedule and we basically concluded that what I had come up with was completely wrong for what I wanted. With help from Yooper I modified the recipe into the following, it is...

Calling all expert hoppers! Check my hop schedule! Sweetwater IPA Clone

Alright guys check my math here and offer insight. I made an IPA once about 3 years ago and completely blew it. I think it was a combination of missing my OG, over doing the bittering hops, and not being prepared for a bitter beer. I have since honed my IPA taste and I am trying to go after a...

Old Grain, Yeast, and Hops, use or don't use?

I have about 10lbs of crushed grain, a bag of Safale - 05, and and 2 oz of hops that have been in their airtight containers for about.. 4 months. Should I brew a 5 gallon batch with it? I figure I'll make the batch either way just wondering if anyone has used crushed grain that old. The stuff...

    Build problem, need some advice!

Alright this is a little embarrassing but hopefully can be worked through. I recently had some fittings welded into my HLT, and pretty much as soon I left the keg with the welder I started to wonder how I would be able to install my herms coil with the nipple welded in place. Here is the way it...

    Another (mostly) stainless HERMS build!

Hey everyone, I am starting my herms build tonight and I figured I'd do a thread documenting my efforts. The rig is based almost entirely off of The Pol's original 10 gallon herms build with a few modification/upgrades to suit my needs. There won't be much (if any) new build material here as I...

    Brew Kettle UPGRADED! 20g

EDIT: Kettle arrived today so I added a few pictures. Threw in some of my other fittings for the heck of it. Its sad how little space 500 dollars worth of stainless takes up. I'll be building a (mostly) stainless herms system in the next few weeks with the components I've been saving up...

    Afterwork brew day!

So after work today I decided I would brew a batch of beer. The recipe is BM's Centennial Blonde, first time I have tried it. Everything is going good so far, I am on the sparge now. Anyways per usual I've already made a little mistake. This time I forgot to vorlauf when I collected the first...

    Dirty Better Bottle...

I recently racked a beer from my primary fermenter, which is a 6gal better bottle. I know anyone who has used a carboy or better bottle has seen the gunk that is dried against the side of the carboy after the fermentation process. Well to clean the bottle I did my normal routine which is to...

    Yeast pitch mistake!

I had a pretty great overall brewday. I was making the hobgoblin II clone from one of the post here and overall everything went well. I had my efficiency set at 70% in beersmith but I overshot my OG which I guess means my efficiency is going up a little. The one thing I think I screwed up on...

    How about this toy...

I don't know about other people, but I always find it frustrating when I dough in to try to get a good idea about the actual temperature of the mash. I'll probe one place and itle be 153, another place will be 159-164. It annoys the hell out of me and I cannot figure out what the actual...

    Clear Beer

I've seen plenty of pictures of peoples wort/beer in carboys that is crystal clear. However everytime I make a beer (whether it be a lighter or darker beer) it always seems to come out murky. Has anyone experienced murky beer and made procedural steps to make their beer clearer and been...

    Fermenter temp question.

I just put my primary fermenter (6.5g carboy) into a rubbermaid tub and filled it with water at about 65F. About how much hotter would you suspect the fermenting wort inside the carboy is? I wouldn't think it would be more then 5 degrees or so.
