English Porter Black Pearl Porter (AG)

I crunched the numbers with the Brewer’s Friend app based on the original recipe, adjusting for 2.2 lbs. of lactose. Starting gravity would be 1.082. Final gravity would be 1.036. You’re a few points high, but with that much lactose, you’re gonna finish sweet. I hope you increased the...

    What are you drinking now?

One of my own Octoberfest. Don't laugh! The first batch turned out so good, we brewed a second batch in December. Delicious. :-)

Say what you want about drinking Octoberfest in February, but the first batch turned out so good that we started a second batch in December. So good. :-)

Irish Red Ale Quaffable Irish Red (All Grain) Scrapper's

Started a batch of this yesterday. Our starting gravity was a little low (1.048), but it'll be fine. Can't wait to try it in a couple of weeks. :-)

    What are you drinking now?

Coastarine's American Winter Brown Ale, which has been renamed (among my family) Brimfrost Brown. I have a cousin who did four years in the Air Force in the mid-80s. He was stationed near Anchorage, AK. Their maneuvers were called Brimfrost exercises. Years later (and back in PA) he likes to...

American Brown Ale American Winter Brown Ale

After 1 1/2 weeks in the bottle, it's just beginning to carb. I can tell I should take a case of this to the basement and forget about it for a few months. Or maybe I should just start another batch. Coastarine, this is an amazing recipe. Thanks for sharing.

    Oatmeal Stout Milk Oatmeal Stout

Started an all grain version of this recipe this afternoon. OG was 1.054 and we got 5.5 gal of wort into the primary, so I think we had a good day.

    What are you drinking now?

Emma's Ale! A favorite at Sunday lunch. We followed a Northern Brewer recipe but bought the ingredients locally (because NB no longer sells the ingredient kit). Also said a prayer for Emma. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    What are you drinking now?

My own Cream Ale. Because sometimes all I want is a beer that tastes like (wait for it) a beer. Love the biscuit malt. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

American Brown Ale American Winter Brown Ale

After a week in the primary, we racked into our secondary. Usually our beers are ready to be bottled about three weeks from brew day (allowing consecutive hydrometer readings to determine if fermentation is finished). I'm wondering if additional bulk aging in the secondary is recommended for a...

Allrightythen! We started at 1.082 and a week later it's come down to 1.022. Go, S-04, go!! :-) Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Brewers near dubois pa. ?

Just so you guys know, Haags is becoming a regular stop for me on Saturday mornings. Dad & I are getting some really good results when we mill grain on Saturday and make beer on Sunday. I've got a question about second runnings. I recently started a winter brown ale with an OG of 1.082. Is...

American Brown Ale American Winter Brown Ale

Started this today, all grain recipe. OG was 1.082. We pitched one rehydrated packet of S-04, then I saw you recommend 2 packets of S-05. Can anyone tell me the alcohol tolerance of S-04? Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

American Brown Ale American Winter Brown Ale

Made the extract version of this already. But it's going so fast I need to start an all grain batch this weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

English Porter Black Pearl Porter (AG)

I'd like to start a batch of this next weekend but the feed store where I bought my grains doesn't carry lactose. I see others have skipped it with acceptable results, but I was wondering if I could find a milk based substitute at the grocery store. What should I look for? Whole milk...

    Welch's Grape Juice Wine

We followed the recipe, using EC-1118 for the yeast. OG was 1.090. Just took a gravity reading after a few weeks in the secondary, 0.985 and still dropping! Have we lost it too vinegar or can it be saved?
