Sap goes from roots to limbs to feed buds to create new growth. Now is the dormant season in colder climates.

    Bad Spring Water?

I've done 55 gallon batches of wine in the blue water barrels with dry yeast. It usually takes 2 to 3 days for it to kick in but it always has. Now my suggestion would be to hydrate a new batch of yeast and make sure its actually working, then dump it into your carboy. If it starts working you...

Hawaiian Christmas berry, Guava, Lehua honey?

I know you can't take fruits, vegetables or plants on the plane back from Hawaii, but are you allowed to take honey? I'm asking because I'm going to Oahu in September and would love to bring some back with me.

    Bells suing a small brewer

That's it. I'm not drinking either one of their brews until they start distributing here. At which time I'll probably change my mind and support them.

    Guilty movie pleasures

I like the kung fu movies. Last ones I've seen was Kung Fu Hustle and The Monkey King. Well that was before I got rid of the tv and cable about 4 years ago.

Running a water line to my garage, need advice.

Heat tape is not made for direct burial. Also you can't combine heat tape with insulation. You can run the pipe in the insulation and bury. Also if you are thinking maybe down the road adding gas to the garage just drop another conduit into the trench say 1". You can run a 3/4" gas line...

Running a water line to my garage, need advice.

If you drain, yes it will work. Plus Pex can expand double its size before bursting. Just note the fitting can not.

Running a water line to my garage, need advice.

I would actually rent a small excavator and dig down to 48" with a 12" bucket. Using a trencher will only dig it 6" wide and about half the dirt will fall back into the trench then you need to remove it. I just ran an electrical conduit to a barn and used a trencher and wished I had spent the...

What craft beer do you secretly despise?

Any of the top 50 beers that I can't get. Simply because I can't get them to see if I like them or not. But seriously I can't see the attraction to sours. I've tried several of DeGarde's and though I like stopping at the tasting room all their beers taste like vinegar. Sorry

Just finished 50 time bombs, PLEASE HELP

Pour back into fermenter, trying not to splash too much. If it doesn't restart fermentation in a couple of days add yeast, yeast nutrient and energizer. Make sure you have an air lock on so you don't get air in that will oxidize your cider.

    Seabuckthorn (seaberry) Wine

I got my plant from One Green World. They are here in Oregon, but they are on the internet. Also Raintree in Washington. Both have unusual and unique plants.

Looking for advice on how to handle a 'code monkey' situation

I used to do concrete for a lot of years, and city sidewalks are to be maintained by the owner of the property. Any horizontal variance of more than one inch and it is a trip hazard. You probably had someone walk down your section of sidewalk and stumble on a rise in the walk way and...

    Homemade hot sauce recipes

I've got a bottle of the habanero sauce. No heat at all. Spiked it with some Primo pepper paste I made earlier in the year, now it hits the spot.

How fresh are they? And you want anything in particular from Oregon? I've got some De Garde and could get some of the other usual suspects. Let me know, I've always wanted to try those
