Angle grinder for cutting and buffing keggles?

Thats pretty much what i used. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/automatic-sanke-cutter-making-kettles-426740/ If you dont stand back in clear distance, you need to watch for fumbling over the cord. Be careful either way.

Automatic Sanke cutter - making kettles

All due respect granted. Thanks for explaining. I look forward to watching your vids. Its a very thin grinding wheel. Explosin would be weak, but agreed could cause damage if i werent protected in safety gear. To offer some other "dumb power machinery operating advice". -- its probably...

Automatic Sanke cutter - making kettles

Bobby, im not sure what you meant by "nice try". I finished the job on two kegs. Omj - terrifying, really?? I was standing 5 feet back with hand on power wearing ear muff and eye protection. What do you think could have happened? I didn't feel the thing would jump up and fly into my head...

Which potentiometer do I need for a stir plate?

I didn't bother with a potentiometer. I just used a lower voltage supply (6v maybe?) that I had lying around. Seems to spin at the right speed and works great for me..

Automatic Sanke cutter - making kettles

Sure thing. I took out the diptube and reused one of the coupler parts that held it in under spring tension. The only modification I did was that I had to grind a tab off that part to allow it to spin freely. I used a bolt, washer and nut to hold it onto the wooden jig. It was a very simple...

Automatic Sanke cutter - making kettles

Made up a jig for my cut off wheel. Cut 2 sankeys in about 4 minutes. One for HLT, the other for boil kettle.

    High tech wort chiller?

I contemplated selling the unit. It was unused and was free to me. I'd love to see what you come up with. The ice water certainly chills it down quickly. I have an old cooler here that I might integrate everything into. I bought a "small" bag of ice and it went quick. Next batch, I'll...

    My stir plate

Great job and great idea! I started collecting parts last weekend and was wondering what I'd put them in. Now I know!!

    High tech wort chiller?

Might be true, but the ice water I'm pulling from the tub is certainly colder than the tap.

    High tech wort chiller?

It went allright, really! I never had a chiller before and finally figured that I'd build one. Criteria: I didn't want to mess with garden hoses, nor did I want to wash out dirty lines/hoses filled with wort. I mentioned that I had to discharge the initial 5 mins of water... it was HOT, so I...

    High tech wort chiller?

I made a recirculating wort chiller using a liquid CPU cooler for a computer that I'd like to share. I whipped together a quick video. I had to discharge the initial 5 minutes of water as it was coming out piping hot, but then I recirc'ed it back into the bath. Here's a vid -->...

    Keg Force Carbing Methods Illustrated

"However, some of the clean up for by the yeast during conditioning is more efficient at higher temperatures" right... in the query; "and this can be done at room temperature, can the last 2 weeks of secondary conditioning be performed in the keg" Is room temperature considered "higher...

    Show Us Your Label

Long story short, my 1st brew blew up in a spare room. I didn't know any better and was using a 5 gallon carboy as a primary with high gravity brew. The fermentation plugged up the airlock and finally blew it across the room. Trub was EVERYWHERE--on the walls, door, ceiling and floor. I...

    Keg Force Carbing Methods Illustrated

I've made it up to page 48 and my eyes are crossed! Was wondering this... if the patient method required 2 weeks of waiting and this can be done at room temperature, can the last 2 weeks of secondary conditioning be performed in the keg while it's carbonating at room temp (ie; 68-70°)...
