    malt mill advice

    Another vote for the BarleyCrusher. Prior to buying it I used several different LHBS mills and never got an efficiency higher than 60%. My first batch with the BC on the default setting I hit 82% with no perceivable changes except the mill. Good product for the right price.

    Refractometer

    Guys, have a look at morebeer.com's excel spreadsheet that does the conversions for you. As long as you enter your original gravity, it will do the math and tell you the SG after fermentation has begun.

    The Sunbeam 7.2 will fit 4 on the floor and 2 more on the hump with an 8 in collar. From what I have heard/read it is just a newer model of the magic chef. I found mine at menards for $200. See Here

    St Paty's Day...

    With just under 3 months to go before the date rolls around, what is everyone planning to brew for this holiday? Green beer seems a must, but what kind? I'm leaning towards an Irish red and a stout. Anyone have recommendations for a few AG 5 gal recipes?

    Lets talk Stouts/Nitro

    Check out the Tap-a-Draft system. I've only used it on an american cream ale but it was awesome. They say use one co2 and one nitrogen cartridge for a creamy stout head... Most people seem happy with them and apparently you can use soda pop bottles with it too. Look here for a discussion.

    I'm not big on fruit beer either, but when I told my new roommate I liked to homebrew he all but begged me to start a blueberry wheat. So, here we go. I'm hoping he'll get a kick out of it and buy one of his own kits so we have a constant supply of homebrew. I think I'll take your advice on...
