What’s the best grain mill for the price?

I have a monster mill MM3 and do not recommend. It slips more than it catches. Thinking about a downgrade to a 2 roller system from another company.

    mill gap issues

I have a MM3 and it constantly slips. I've tried everything. I take it apart and clean it. I've set the gap wider than I would want. I've contacted monstemill. I've read all the horror stories of mill failures and hacks to get them to work. Every brewday is a hassle. It ALWAYS slips until I get...

What BIAB Efficiency Do You Get?

Beersmith has 78% for mash efficiency, and 80% "measured brewhouse" according to a recent batch.

What BIAB Efficiency Do You Get?

I consistently get 78% using the default setting on my Barley Crusher. For smaller beers (< 1.045), I'll do full volume, but over 50 I have to take some water out and (might as well...) sparge because my brew kettle isn't big enough to hold it all. Either way, I end up with the same...

    Apple juice with potassium sorbate?

I started a cider with K sorbate and only noticed when I was putting the juice in the fermenter. I went ahead with it and it is going... but rrreeeeaaalllly slow! It's been about 2 months; the gravity is down in the 40s (from 60) and still bubbling away. I'll let it go as long as there is yeast...

    Efficiency from MoreBeer milled grain

Bringing back a zombie thread here, but I've been having the same issue with morebeer milled grains. If I buy/mill at the LHBS I get 80%. Order milled from MB and it is under 70%. Time to get a mill....

Consistently High Final Gravity - A.G

^ what madira_maker said. Check/calibrate your thermometer. Mash at 150F/66C and you should be good to go. Mash temp was the problem in my case. Fixed with the last two batches and they came out nice and dry.

    All Grain Vs BIAB - Pro's & Con's (5 Gal Batches)

I think I'm limited by my pot size which is 32q/8G/30L. In my experience so far, I've had much lower efficiency around 1.055 (70% vs 80+ around 1.040). With a bigger pot (10G+) I believe I could easily do 1.060+. Or I could just plan on lower efficiency and cram some more grains in there. But...

    All Grain Vs BIAB - Pro's & Con's (5 Gal Batches)

I have had great results with BIAB. It works best with the bitters I've been making that typically come in under 1.045. I have found that more grains (1.055+) means lower efficiency. I have a 32q pot and with the false bottom in there I think I am limiting the space that the grains can spread...

    Free The Nitro!

I am doing this now (ok, not this very *instant*) with a bitter and stout I brewed and carbonated to around 1-1.5 vols of CO2. IF (and that's a big *IF*) you get the carbonation right, the syringe will produce a fantastic glass full of beautiful cascading bubbles which settle out to a solid...
