    Anyone into vintage snowmobiles?

I have never considered myself as being into vintage stuff, however as I age I find the things I am into are now being considered vintage. One such interest is the snowmobiles of my youth. My father and two uncles were dealers for Moto Ski, Polaris, and Ski Whiz snowmobiles back in the late...

    Anybody make homemade crackers?

I was thinking that I would like to try my hand at making some homemade crackers, like the town house variety. Has anyone made any really good cheese and cracker type crackers? If so, please share your experience and recipes. Some that included spent grain would be great. Thanks!

two keg kit from Northern Brewer?

Any one ever bought this kit or the regulator from NB? What did you think of it? https://www.northernbrewer.com/collections/kegging-systems/products/keg-system-reconditioned-dual-ball-lock

How many times should I re-pitch the same yeast?

It occurred to me that I have saved and re-pitched the same US-05 yeast at least a dozen times. I have not yet noticed any off flavors or other issues. When should I stop re-pitching? Is there a magic # of ferment cycles that a single package of yeast should be used for?

Maple syrup season= free RO water

I thought it might be worth a mention to all those who don't know, but here in the north east part of the US, we are in the heart of maple sugar/syrup season. Maple syrup is produced by concentrating the sap of sugar maple trees into the finished product. This was originally done by boiling...

    Mystery brew

My wife and I live way out in the middle of no where, and the closest Home Brew Supply is 60 miles away, one direction. I used to brew quite a bit more often than I do now, so to save trips, and money I would buy several batches at a time. I would measure out my grains for each batch into 5...

    Metal detector advice, please.

I am thinking about purchasing a metal detector this spring and have been doing a little bit of research on metal detectors. What I have found out is, I know nothing about metal detecting or metal detectors. I have set my budget at $250-$300. Any one have any units they would recommend, if...

    Snowy drew day

I haven't brewed in months. Mostly because my lhbs is 60 miles away one way and I don't often get there. My pipe line is so low, and I wanted to brew so badly that I ordered 3 kits from NB ( got a free big mouth for ordering 3), and planned a double brew day for today. Weather man says we...

Cream Ale - Lager/Ale yeast dual ferment

I have read a few threads about combining both an ale and lager yeast in a cream ale. Most are several years old, and none that I looked at had any posts from first hand experience. I'm thinking about giving this a try with a very basic cream ale grain bill. I have brewed this several times...

    CO2 scincey type stuff questions

OK,right now I have an IPA going blurp, blurp, blurp, blurp, blurp, and an empty CO2 tank that needs filling. Being the car/tool guy that I am, I'm thinking that an old air compressor and some fancy tubing could capture the wasted CO2 escaping into my cellar way, and put it to good use when I...

Dansville/South Western New York Group buy, anyone interested?

I would love to try and put together a group buy in the Dansville, NY area. I have an auto parts store in Dansville, with a fork lift that could unload pallets from a truck, and would be a good place to distribute from. I've never done this before, so I don't know much about it, but I'm sure...

    Cube fridge jockey box....maybe

So, I've brewed for years and have always wanted to step up to kegging my brews, but budget and space have kept me bottling. I truly don't have room in my tiny house for a kegerator. However, my wife brought home a dorm sized "cube" refridgerator form work, that is in perfect working...

    Anyone own a Buick Encore?

My wife and I are looking to trade in her Jeep Patriot for something a bit newer and without a cvt transmission. We are leaning toward a new Encore but have some concerns about the 1.4l turbo. It seems way under powered. How many of you own a Encore? What do you think of it? Would you buy...

    Brewing/racking/bottling with a cold?

Okay, I have a terrible head cold, and a couple beers that need racking and dry hopping. One is a IIPA that should finish out around 10%abv, the other, an IPA that will likely finish around 6%. I know that the alcohol should be plenty high enough to kill any stray cold germs that may get into...

Homegrown fuggles hops for what ever you have

I have a pound or so of last falls Fuggles hops, that I picked from my own bines, that I would be willing to trade for something else brew related. Maybe some grains or other rhizomes or whatever. I am just south of Rochester NY, Pm me if you have any interest.

    Party guile question

I am looking to brew an IPA that uses 11# of pale 2 row and 1# of caramel 40l, and a Rye ale that calls for 6.25# pale 2 row 1.75# rye and .75# caramel 40l. I was thinking that i could maybe save some $$$ and brew these two beers together, one the first day and one the next, using some of the...

    Oatmeal question

Would someone please explain to me what oatmeal adds to a beer recipe? I know it is mostly used in stout. If I understand it properly, it adds a creaminess to the body of stouts. I'm not really a stout fan and the few stouts that I have tried I couldn't really pick out anything that I would...

    Christmas dinner.....whatcha makin

I'm about to start making a couple pies to take to my folks for tomorrow's dinner. One , a Christmas tradition in our family, chocolate. The other, an elderberry pie, made from some of the berries my wife and I picked this summer, from some wild bushes growing along the creek out back...

    Is it just me.....

or does anyone else think that the bell ringers next to the red kettle over do it? Is it a bad thing if I wonder if it would be as annoying, to the person ringing the bell, as the ringing bell is to me, if I shoved the bell up their ASS!:eek: MY mind works in dark and mysterious ways!
