    The Fermtank

I am interested in this fermenter from Delta Brewing Systems. Does anyone have one, and can you recommend it?

    Brews for the new year?

I have been trying to decide what to brew after the 1st of the year. Christmas and New Year's will be past, and it will be a bit early for Spring brews. All I can come up with is an Irish Red for St. Patty's Day. Any ideas?

Under $100 Wort pump with SS head

For some time now, I've kept my eyes open for a low cost wort pump for 5 gallon batches. Most pumps in the price range my price range (under $100) don't have a stainless steel pump head. I am trying to reduce plastic in my system and process, so SS is an obvious choice. Williams brewing has...

Some of my ales not clearing

Lately I've noticed that my ales don't clear up like they used too. I can use gelatin in the keg, but sometimes they still have a very slight haze. My process has not changed, but I do pitch from slurry, and I'm thinking it is time to replace some of my yeasts. I leave my ales in primary for...

    Brewing Withdrawals

Have you ever felt the pang of brewing withdrawal? Ever had that listless feeling that you're missing something, or at least missing out? The first of the year was a busy time for me, so I for the first couple of weeks, I didn't brew. Then I got sick! I was hanging around the couch, feeling...

Draft line jumpers to clean draft lines?

I have seen pictures here somewhere of draft lines jumpered to recirculate line cleaner. How is the physical connection to the faucet connector made? Are there connectors/adapters available to connect a line between two draft lines with faucets removed?

    Injury-frozen shoulder

So... I'm finding out what it's like not being able to brew, or do brew related tasks such as racking, kegging, bottling etc. I injured my shoulder while fetching wood for our fireplace. Lately (but not now) I have been carrying in wood every day to keep a fire going in our fireplace. one...

    Witbier or just Wheat beer?

I love the creative latitude that homebrewers and craft brewers have, and the variations of brews they can create. But sometimes I am surprised at how far some can deviate from a classic style and still call it that style of beer. Am I splitting hairs, or just being a traditionalist? For...

    User friendly taplist ap?

Is there a user friendly video taplist ap that will run on either iPad or android device, and can be displayed on a monitor or tv? I don't want to build anything or change any code to get it to work. I don't want to pay a monthly subscription fee either. Is there such an ap, or am I just...

    ID of WLP005 yeast strain

I must say that I am confused about the identity/origin of White Labs WLP005 British Ale Yeast. When I picked up this yeast, I thought it was Ringwood Ale, same as Wyeast 1187. But most yeast strain comparison lists show it as being the same strain as 1198. Some show WLP005 as being both 1187...

    Gov Reg

I just saw this in the July/August 2018 issue of Zymurgy magazine: https://govreg.us/ It looks like a good alternative to standard secondary regulators. If you're setting up a draft system using secondary regulators, you could save some money (and space) by using these.

    Schmidling Maltmill website

Is Jack Schmidling still making and selling mallmills? Has his website changed? His home page looks the same, but whenever I go to the Ordering Info page, it comes up as a blank page. The Maltmill page comes up as not found.

    Mash & Boil and Robobrew

There seem to be a lot of posts praising Grainfather, but at around $1000, it is out of my price range. I'm wondering about Mash & Boil and Robobrew. I wouldn't expect them to compare with Grainfather, but at $300 - $480, they are much more affordable. Could I hear from some owners of (or...

Malt analysis - Clarity of wort

Great Western Domestic 2-Row malt analysis lists: "Clarity of Wort 11". I have never seen that on a malt analysis sheet. Is there a guide somewhere that would tell me whether a wort clarity of 11 is good, bad or average?

    Funky flavor in my hefe

What is that funky flavor in my wheat beer? None of my other beers have this character. You're going to tell me I have an infection, right? I have been fortunate not to have any infection until (probably) now. I have brewed quite a few wheat beers in the last few years. But until recently...
