    Fruit Beer Succulent Strawberry Blonde

Yeah, that should work. Unfortunately, I don't have the means to cold crash right now so kind of stuck with the floaties.

    Fruit Beer Succulent Strawberry Blonde

Huh! Kinda makes me wonder if they're clean then...I would assume with the FDA they would have to be. I just cracked one and one thing I did notice was I have a small amount of white "floaties" in each bottle do I'm foreseeing Whirlfloc doesn't eliminate everything, especially since the fruit...

    Fruit Beer Succulent Strawberry Blonde

I'm not entirely sure. My understanding is that there is a stronger flavor from frozen, probably from whatever processing they go through prior to packaging, but don't quote me on that. On the sanitizing part, one thing I didn't mention is that I'm extremely picky with my fresh berries. If...

    Fruit Beer Succulent Strawberry Blonde

I've never sanitized them per se. I do wash them thouroughly, cut the tops, then cut them into 8ths....ie. half, half then half again. Haven't had a problem w/ seeds either. After they've been cleaned and cut I just pop them into a freezer bag, stick them in the freezer and dump them straight...

Just a heads up in case you haven't already racked on the berries. I also like a lighter amount of strawberry flavor and used 5 lbs instead of 8. The result was a level of flavor so light I could barely tasted it. I DID use fresh instead of frozen though, so that may have had something to do...

Good, that's pretty much what I figured, just wanted to confirm. Gracias!

    Fruit Beer Succulent Strawberry Blonde

Son of a $%^!!!! Ok, need a few opinions on this one. Like I said before I adjusted. Wanted a more muted flavor so went with 5 lbs instead of 8 and went fresh instead of frozen. Didn't blend, just chopped myself....MISTAKE! There's not even a hint of strawberry flavor and I racked to the...

Yeah, that'll do it. In the Woodbridge VA area they use a chlorination substitute that doesn't boil out I have to use bottled water. A buck a gallon is well worth the cleaner taste.

Question about adding orange zest to new brew.

Did you get to trying a brew with juice in it yet? I've been wondering if that would work as well as say adding the strawberries into the secondary for a strawberry blonde.

    Fruit Beer Succulent Strawberry Blonde

Huh.....I was initially worried about anything they might use on the berries from the packing plant, but if you all swear by the frozen, I'll have to give it try on the next batch!

    Fruit Beer Succulent Strawberry Blonde

Ha ha, I usually have that same problem! I was really good on the last brew and waited the full 30.....easier to do because I was on travel for work though. ;) What's your thoughts on frozen or fresh berries? I went fresh for my first time. Chopped them in half then quartered the halves.

What's the best time length for conditioning in the bottle for this one? 30 days?

    Fruit Beer Succulent Strawberry Blonde

OK, makes sense. Think I'll probably go the "halfway" route and go for the two weeks then. I don't have a place to cold crash it, so maybe that's the safer route?

I did have one other question. Is a month in the tertiary right? Seems like a really long time.

Ha! I guess I'll just have to make it again and adjust! ;-) Thanks again for the help!

    Fruit Beer Succulent Strawberry Blonde

Awesome. Glad to hear that! It's been there for two days. I've heard different things on that. Some say a week and some 4 days. I wanted a more subdued flavor do only added 5 pounds of berries instead of 8.

    Fruit Beer Succulent Strawberry Blonde

I realize this is an old thread but I'm hoping someone will still be able to help me out. Giving this one a try and just racked to my secondary. I did NOT rack the slurry though and just realized that that may have been a mistake. Am I supposed to be seeing activity in the secondary? If I am...

    Question about "yeast cake".

OK, that it would be over pitching makes more sense. I think I'll cut that down quite a bit. Thanks for the link to yeast washing! Now, since this will be my first time doing that.....anybody know a good way to get it out of carboy?!:drunk:

    Question about "yeast cake".

Good Morning All! I'm trying out my first fruit beer and when reading a thread, one gentleman stated that he was going to start another beer after racking his current to a secondary. He also stated that he was going to put the new brew straight into the other brew's primary in order to just...
