    SweetTarts?

I've tried a bunch of different candies. I have not found a single one I liked post fermentation.

    New chiller methodology

That's the opposite of what I did. The chiller went into the wort, the pool water was pumped through it. The dumping is correct, although I have several auto-siphons. Just too lazy to bother with a 5 gallon batch. Over that, auto-siphon.

    New chiller methodology

When I had an above-ground pool, I pumped the pool water in through my immersion cooler to conserve water and heat the pool. We got rid of it, so I switched to just putting a lid on my pot to let it cool off overnight, then transfer and pitch yeast in the morning.

    Tater Tots v Onion Rings

I don't think this is a "vs" thing at all, but rather a "yes, please" sort of thing.

    Spring 2024 Corny Keg Giveaway

My last brew was a Ginger Apple cider, but I'm patiently crossing my fingers.

Kegged 5 gallons ginger cider, 4 gallons Gran-apple cider, 2 gallons pomegranate cider. Started 5 gallons of Ginger Cider.

Do you consider electric/automated brewing equipment to be cheating?

I think "cheating" is going to the local pub and spending $15 on a pint or two. I also do "no chill" once I didn't have a pool to push heat into anymore, but still use my 15 gallon stockpot on a propane burner because there's only the cost of propane, no new equipment. The point is to make...

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Years ago, I was concerned and bought one. Unfortunately, mine is 110, so I couldn't measure any of my 220 appliances. But, the reality is that the big users are orders of magnitude more than the little ones, so if your electric bill is $300 a month during the summer, an appliance using $1 or...

Weird house / real estate listings.

Plus, you have to pay now. I'd suggest doing it while BestBuy will still take up to three items a day. I say that while knowing there's a 36" CRT sitting in my spare bedroom. It's not 300 pounds, but it'll be a bear to get downstairs (without breaking).

    Newbie needing info!

1.5 gallons of water for priming seems a bunch. I'm not sure I'd do more than 1-2 cups.

    GOOD on Netflix STREAMING?

We're watching "Young Sheldon". We previously watched most but not all of "The Big Bang Theory".

    Random Picture Thread

Yes. They’ll attack with long, sharp teeth. They also smell bad and don’t taste very good. I had jalapeño summer sausage mixed 50/50 with pork and that was tolerable.

How long does it take to keg

Hm. I have a keg/bucket cleaner, so it's mostly putting the keg on the cleaner and letting it run vs rinsing and sanitizing each bottle when done. Filling is letting the auto-siphon run until it's empty vs pulling each bottle to slowly fill from the bottling bucket. Kegging was a win for me.

First brew day is on the books.

Or, Relax, don't worry, have a home-brew? And, yes, I am _that_guy_. And, yes, I am sorry.

    Random Drunken Thoughts Thread

Family visited for Thanksgiving. I made the mistake of saying "oh, we can just Mapquest it..." and my sister immediately chimed in with "are you seriously suggesting you're going to Mapquest it, or just Google/Apple map it?", I said I'd have to Ask Jeeves.

What I did for beer today

I brewed a batch of Sorghum Chinook SMaSH yesterday, so today I transferred it to my fermenter. Unfortunately, we're in a cold spell, so it was 39 degrees this morning. I pitched yeast at 58.
