Anyone using a diaphragm pump for glycol?

I use similar pump with my system. It works well. I bypassed the pressure switch. Both my pump and chiller (re-purposed drinking fountain) are controlled by STC-1000. Reservoir is a small 6 pack cooler. I my case the pump can be a little loud depending on the tubing diameter and length. Pump...

    Carbonate once frozen keg

I took the kegs off the co2 & vented the kegs for a week. I gave the a good shake once in a while. Once I could not hear any gas escaping from the vent, I closed it and reapplied the co2. I now have carbonated beer and it is delicious! :) Thanks for sharing your knowledge doug293cz & LBussy.

    Carbonate once frozen keg

No ice in keg. it has been at 42F for a month. When I pour one, I get tiny rolling nitro type bubbles. [I should have mentioned that in my original post] I spoke with a brewer at one of the local breweries. He believes that I have nitrogen in the beer. I am not sure how  I have...

Herms specific to rapid mash temp change?

With my system it takes between 12 - 15 minutes to raise by 10°. The faster you can move the mash water through the coil the better, which is why I typically add rice hulls to all of mashes. I ran out of hulls a few batches back and had to throttle the value to prevent stuck mash. Rise time...

    Carbonate once frozen keg

I brewed a Helles in January. Fermented for 10 days at 53ºF raised to 65º until terminal gravity reached. Once kegged, I placed in my garage for largering. Temps in the garage are typically outdoor ambient temp + 10º. This would out great when temps are in there usual range of 20-30F...

    New Orleans brewery/bar recommendations

I have visited NOLA on multiple occasions mostly for Jazz Fest. Jazz Fest is getting bigger every year and I find the bigger it gets the less I enjoy it. That and I am getting too old to stand in the mud (or horse dung) all day drinking. It really takes its toll. ;) I recently when down...

    Gelatin vs cold crash

I use gelatin on most of my light colored beers when I keg them. Below is a photo of a recent batch of Munich Helles fermented with Wyeast#2308. I dropped the trub before fermentation began & dropped the yeast when it got close to final gravity. I cold crashed for 5days then added gelatin. I...

Brew Supplies Poll - You deserve another beer for contributing.

I shop at two LHBS. One is close to work (CapNCork) the other is close to home (Adventures in Homebrewing). From those stores I purchase yeast, bulk grain & small qualities hops. Hops by the pound and equipment purchased online. When AIH had $5 shipping on any purchase within the state...

    First salami with Umai dry

Did you extract the coppa muscle from a Boston Butt and place the whole muscle in bag or did you cube the pork butt, cure it and stuff the umai bag?
