Brewing a Festbier for Oktoberfest, is it too soon?

I am brewing a festbier, which is a lightly hopped light lager, maybe 15 IBU. Brewed it 2 weeks ago and it has fermented down from 1.055 down to 1.010 using WLP 800. It is currently doing the Diacetyl rest before lagering. Things are going smoothly so far but looking ahead, I am wondering that...

Frozen yeast 5 years later, not good

After a 3 year hiatus to take care of an aging parent, I am back to my brewing ways. One of the ongoing projects I left behind was a library of stored yeast kept in the freezer section of my beer fridge. While I was away I checked in with my neighbors in case there was a power failure, and to...

    Refining my Cyser

This is still kind of a work in progress. I was invited to crush some apples from my brother in law's large apple tree and I ended taking home 3+ gallons of pasteurized cider. Fixing broken handles

I have two "reconditioned" used corny kegs that have the rubberized handles, and the rubber has cracked through. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to fix the handles, they still otherwise seal and do the job, but they are difficult to handle, particularly when full.

    Smell from new tap lines

I have been away from homebrewing for most of the last 3 years taking care of my dad who recently passed in October. One of the things that needed to be done was replacing the tap lines on my Keezer. The old lines were just nasty with some of them having standing beer in them for over 2 years...

Looking for a decent bottle brush

I have a problem finding a good bottle brush these days. A few years ago, the LHBS I normally deal with changed their bottle brushes for the worse. What is worse, other LHBSs in the area seem to get their brushes from the same place. I have an old brush that still works fine, but the new ones...

    Hello from Boring MD

I've been in lurker mode for a while, and decided to register yesterday. Got 2 batches under my belt, a Hefeweizen in bottles, and an IPA in the fermenter. I have made wine every year since 2004, and made it on and off a few times prior to that, and have about 100 vines. Man does not live on...
