    Help

^this. You'll be fine. Just remember to do the swamp cooler from the get-go next time.

    any regrets going electric?

Ooh, almost forgot to mention sous vide! Perfectly done roasts/steaks/etc. My wife particularly loves that aspect, because being pregnant she isn't supposed to have beef anything other than well done. However, with the e-brewery I can serve up pasteurized med-rare steaks. Electric brewing FTW!

    GFCI code ( minnesota question)

A positive to option 2 is having a breaker close by your brewing area, and not too far of a walk to turn power back on. Also, if you're set on 30a ignore this, but I would consider spending the money now to do 50a to give yourself room for more later.

    any regrets going electric?

No regrets at all going electric. It has made it possible now for my 2.5yr old assistant brewer to actually hang out during the boil. For easier cleaning I may have gone with a quick disconnect power cord for my kettle so it didn't have a permanent tail like it does now. Glad I went with 6/3 so...

    Hops addition question

That has been a PITA for me in the past. Works, but aggravating. For me, I would just let the trub go into the fermenter. It'll all settle out anyways.

    Hops addition question

It really doesn't matter. You may get clearer beer and possibly more wort into the fermenter if you use a bag (if you're trying to avoid hop sludge in the fermenter), but IMHO it is negligible.

    RIMS design for critique

Hi, I meant to say something yesterday, but a shiny object or something flew by. First off, is that a typo, or are you using 5gal kegs? The only major problem I see with your design is that there needs to be a valve after the pump to regulate flow rate. Are you planning on using your rims...

    TheDom's Two Vessel RIMS Build

May have spoke too soon on the SSR thing. I have yet to open the panel up and double check the wiring, bit after a few runs of it hitting temps perfectly, I just walked out to a steam filled garage from a kettle that was supposed to hold at 170. I have a 40a SSR with a heat sink running the...

    TheDom's Two Vessel RIMS Build

No, not quite a Brutus 20, I've only got one pump. I may go to no sparge at some point, but I have yet to experiment with that. I heat strike water in the BK, since 5500W heats water faster than 1500W, and pump it over to the mash tun. Add grain, stir, get mash recirculating, set my mash temp...

    TheDom's Two Vessel RIMS Build

Hey, thanks for asking! I've actually got a half done post sitting on my laptop about it back at the house. The abridged version of the story to come: 1. It is all done, first brew completed yesterday. 2. Overheating SSRs can cause huge overshoots. Fans are your friends. 3. A 4a fast-trip...

    Adding "volume" to boil kettle

I guess you could throw a few handfulla of marbles in there. Sounds to me like a good excuse to upgrade fermentation space and go 10gal.

    Adding "volume" to boil kettle

Some here have had success bending their elements for various reasons. Maybe that would work for you?

    TheDom's Two Vessel RIMS Build

He doesn't much care for the wort, but he loves "beer flowers". For some reason "beer" was one of the first words he learned. Weird. :)

    TheDom's Two Vessel RIMS Build

Got my camlocks from proflowdynamics today, so unless I forgot something, I have 100% of the parts I meed to get this project finished. Now I gotta find the time. Here is a shot of the assistant brewer dilligently inspecting our shipment of camlocks:

    TheDom's Two Vessel RIMS Build

So I learned the hard way that the proper size hole saw for the round 125V single outlets is NOT 1 1/2, but rather 1 3/8. Doh! No big deal since it is out of sight on the bottom, but still lame just the same. 2 1/8 worked just fine for the bigger one: May future builds have more purty as...

    TheDom's Two Vessel RIMS Build

Thanks, it isn't done yet, but I plan on keeping it as clean as possible. I will definitely get out the good camera when all is done and give some detailed shots of the wiring, both to help others and to let those more knowledgeable than myself pick it apart if need-be. Best of luck on your build!

That they are modular was the big selling point for me.
