    How to mellow the bite?

Probably water? Every extract batch I made had a strange lingering bite, but none of my AG batches do. I blamed it on extract in general, as I used Distilled water....

Help deciding on a mash tun

Very simple, very cheap. I have like $40 into mine, 48qt cooler shipped. Looks like a good opportunity to impress yourself.

    Show me your mash Tun

$30 48qt from walmart.com, and I had all the copper/fittings. Used a drillpress for the manifold, which can be taken apart for cleaning. Temp probe is useless as its reading 20deg low.

I'm never truly happy with my homebrew

I'm very critical as well. My brews have been getting consistently better as I dialed in temp control, pitching rate, etc. But overall I am happy with my last 6 or so batches. On the other side of the spectrum, a friend of mine describes his beer as "phenomenal". Every beer he has ever made...

Attention All Extract Brewers - Harsh Bitterness and Aftertaste

I just racked an imperial CDA, and the flavor was really pronounced.

Attention All Extract Brewers - Harsh Bitterness and Aftertaste

I've used distilled water in all of my Extract brews, and this flavor pops up in all of them. I've tried steeping grans in 1 gal in a pot and other things trying to nail down the cause. My All-Grain brews turn out fine, using untested town water. My extracts are ALWAYS brewed with distilled.

    Northern Brewer

The beauty of a forum is the fact that you are able to freely post your experiences. The good, the bad, the ugly. I had stopped ordering from NB when their shipping policy changed. I was also unimpressed with one particular kit. I brewed Caribou Slobber, and was disappointed with the finished...

why would they remove my review?

Honest, non-bias reviews are huge to a smart consumer. Last year I was shopping for a sounder/gps. I was set on one brand, and after reading many many reviews, I went with another brand. I couldn't be happier with the unit. Had bass-pro among other outlets removed the negative reviews, i'd...

    Northern Brewer Shipping

I ordered 3 AG kits, 40 or 50lbs of 2 row, and a sack of some specialty from Austin and my order totalled $203 shipped. I just found the invoice and took a quick look at the total. I recently went to buy two extract kits from northern brewer, and my total was ~$180. C'mon man!

why would they remove my review?

It's unbelievable. As a consumer, I trust reviews of others before buying ANYTHING. I don't know how many times I've been about to pull the trigger on something, and then read some reviews only to change my mind. Proof is in the pudding, not the fluff.
