I like this time at night on HBT

I may never have time to catch up with posts here but I heard through the grapevine that a couple people were wondering if I was dead or alive. Alive!!!!! And blackberries are in season here in North Florida a month early. You know what that means... more blackberry wine. Last year it was...

If it's not in the bible, it should be. I know they will be life-long friends, they want to take me to see some of their favorite places. They asked me questions about my hubby and I told them a little, they 100%, completely understood once they got a first hand look at things. Hubby's...

I made some awesome banana bread to go with breakfast for my out-of-town visitors, the ones hubby invited here from the tractor forum he belongs to. I'm not a bread maker, yet, but they oohed and ahhhed over the bread, went good with the fresh eggs, mystery meat and onion stir fry. I was...

Hubby truly was my "other half", or even "the better half of me", losing that really is like losing half of yourself. I never had to worry, he would always be at my side. My life was complete, I had him and that's all I needed. Now, I have his shell to take care of. He won't be back like he...

Thanks. I'm leaving in 14 days. In order to really proceed in life as a proactive person instead of a reactive one, I would have to give up my role as wife and caretaker. I can't do that so I have to strike some kind of balance. For this trip, the one in 2 weeks, I told hubby's family that...

Hubby's "online" friend arrived today to stay with us for a couple days, the guy brought his wife along. They are staying 2 nights and it's a guy that hubby met through a tractor forum he belongs to. Hubby seems a little aggravated by the visit even though he is the one who invited them...

Hello! I am one of those posters in this topic that seem to ignore the current conversation and just want to talk about themselves, tell you guys my problems because it's "that time at night". But, I do read enough on here to know that I'm not alone.... It's time to take my life back and...

The possum is dead!! The possum is dead!! I blew off his big ole head!! Well, only part of his head actually blew off, an ear, upper jaw and part of the skull on one side. I was like, hmm, looks smaller now that he's dead, but then I look about a foot over and saw the other piece, lol. This...

I will send you a little jacket for him, Dan, a happy jacket to match his personality. I learned a new trick today and it really works!!! How to get people to leave you alone and stop asking so many questions. They will be talking to you, rambling on and on, you start getting annoyed... open...

Oh, well that could be dangerous then, trying to stop in, and I don't even know if you own a good parachute. Both Orlando and New Orleans are driving distance from here, 4.5 hours and about 5.5 hours respectively. But driving to NO you have to go through the evil tunnel, you'd have to bring...

If you don't mind staying with mom in the big farm house, there are 2 extra bedrooms or you can stay in the camper behind the barn. ;)

You can stop by here on your way to Orlando, or on your way to New Orleans from there, it's right on the way. I'll either freeze some chili and save it for you, or I got enough meat to make another batch. How spicy do you like it?

Chili is on the stove and the meat smelled really good when I browned it first. I don't even think Florida bears hibernate, they've been getting into our trash all winter. We cut away what little fat there was when we skinned it, not much marbling, really lean and a bright, deep red color.

It is like cow, the meat along the rib area was much easier to carve and the butt and shoulder area didn't cut as easily. Argh,, I'll take a pretzel.... Looks like bright red beef with hardly any fat.

Oh, Dan, you know I love you too! And Melana, hurry to Florida to try some chili!!! I picked out meat from the rib area to cook first, it just looks tender and nice. It's actually redder than beef, and more dense. That's why I thought I'd cut it into small cubes. And bear has to be cooked...

When I first started cooking with venison, I started with chili. So, yes, seemed appropriate. Spicy and meaty, I'm going to trick some people into trying a bowl if it turns out good.

    Deep Drunken Thoughts

I always wondered what my head would look like shaved, I have crazy thick curly/wavy hair and I wonder if my bald head would be wavy or just normal. Feeling my head, it seems like it's lumpy.

I marinated about 3 or 4 pounds of the bear meat in red wine and olive oil(1/2 and 1/2) for 2 days in the fridge with salt, pepper and other spices I had on hand. Tomorrow I'm going to dice it into small pieces and cook it all day in a pot of spicy chili. Beef broth, tomatoes, onions, and...

Things are crazy here, as usual. I've got 25 gallons of beer in the works and I'm going to need every drop. I shot a bear!!!! Killed it with a buck shot. I've been on a killing spree(not people, just predators and pests) and filled up my big freezer and mom's freezer. 2 of hubby's...

    Beer and guns

Last time I showed a picture of my kill on here I was asked to remove it because it was not only upsetting, but also illegal. Be quick if you want to see it because I'm going to post it then remove it, it's half skinned now but look by my feet and you'll see the black fur, not a big bear, I'm...
