    Founders All Day IPA

Thanks for great work Brewski09 and others! Founders All Day tasted so good to me when I first had it that I stopped brewing about a year ago- I was like why bother? Lol! Seeing this clone recipe has inspired me to get back and get a batch going soon. Cheers!

    Hopalicious clone

Thanks for sharing! I have been looking for a recipe and will be brewing your recipe in a couple weeks with your suggestions! :mug:

    First bottle day sucked

Get a clip fpr the autosiphon to snap onto the edge of your fermenter. I need to use a rubberband on it to hold my autosiphon at the right level. Only submerge it a couple inches from the top and slowly lower it as your beer moves to the bottling bucket. Then when there is a couple inches left I...

    Wee Heavy Strong Scotch Ale

Wow this is an excellent recipe. I brewed this up a couple months ago and am now tasting it. I had to substitute galena for the chinook and I use scottish ale yeast... but this is one of my best beers yet. Fermented at 58. Thanks for sharing this recipe I will be getting another batch started ASAP!

I am worried I have a bad batch

I too have experienced that on every batch so far, but I only posted because this one is extremely awful.

I am worried I have a bad batch

ok. I just realized I had some hot tub test strips and tested my water. I do not know how accurate these things are but just my tap water appears to be over 7. That may be the cause huh? If so, would it be possible that the ph has changed since the prior batches. Its city water, I do not really...

I am worried I have a bad batch

I do not. I should get some test strips to find out. I am just perplexed because every other batch I have made with this water has tasted fine at this point. Would a sanitation mishap cause this type of off flavor?

Learning flavors and how they relate to ingredents

I've been doing some SMaSH brews just for this reason. I can definitely spot 2-Row malt now and starting to get a feel for hops- especially cascade.

I am worried I have a bad batch

I used my tap water. It may have high alkilinity I am not sure, but I have used the same water for every batch in the past as well.

I am worried I have a bad batch

I brewed an "Amber Ale" that I put together on Beersmith a few weeks ago. Just kegged it Sunday and today I decided to draw a small sample just to see how it was coming along. The taste is absolutely awful. It seems extremely bitter/astringent? I am really not very good at describing flavors so...

    breweries in Wisconsin

if you're in Beaver Dam, head down 151 to Columbus and check out Hydro Street, then go to Madison, and hit Karben 4 and Ale Asylum- both on the northeast side. If you venture further in town, there is One Barrel, as well as House of Brews (on the east side).

    Sanitation times

I just spray the items with some StarSan and give them about a minute

    Keezer Thermal Monitor

maybe check out threads with "STC-1000" if that is what you are thinking. I'm sure there are other LED displays, but there are some threads that show how to wire this for cooling and heating (if desired)

    5 gallon carboy fill line.....

I just measured mine and it is about 3/4" below the spot where it starts to curve inwards and narrow. Not sure if all carboys are the same or not though.

    Cheap means of cooling wort

+1 ^ I made a cheap wort chiller with parts from HD a couple months ago. I think it cost me ~$25 and cools a 5 gallon full boil in less than 30 minutes. Highly recommend it if you can afford it. Its a 25' x 3/8" copper tube, so not the bigest one, just what I could afford at the time. The...

First AG Brew Day set for Saturday... Wish Me Luck!

Good luck! I am a new AG brewer myself. My advice for your first batch is to keep some extra sparge water on hand as well as some cold water in case you have problems with temps using the new cooler. My 2nd batch was better after putting HOT water into the cooler to warm it up before mashing...

Is it ok to add water to Mash?

I've been heating my strike and sparge water in the kitchen using a couple stock pots. Trying to save on propane and much more convenient in the house this time of year (especially during this blizzard!). Today everything hit perfectly but I did have a couple extra gallons on stand by in case I...

Is it ok to add water to Mash?

OK, just finished my 2nd batch all grain. Plugged the numbers into Beersmith based on the last batch and added almost boiling water to the cooler for about 20 minutes while heating up the strike water. I hit everything almost perfectly! My SG and OG were within .001 and my volumes were very...

Do American's have an imature beer taste palate?

I must be one of the odd ones because I actually like the taste of the BMC beers. Especially on a hot day on the golf course! (Is cold a flavor? ;) ). But I do tend to prefer beers with more flavor and body- addicted to Left Hand Milk Stout currently. I also choose to, when possible, not support...
