    cider trouble

The last 3 batches of cider i have made (1 gal batches using store apple juice, brown sugar, anf Champaign yeast) have turned out ok as in free of pollution but have been very very very tart. I use tart as a nice term because they were undrinkable because they had no sugar left. Some one...

    Bottles

Here in NE 12oz bottles sell for about $25-$30 a case for home brewing supplies and the tall boys average about $3-$4 a piece. IA has the 5 cent trade in but these are all bottle good for using to bottle home brewed beer. I trade in any screw top bottles but it would be a shame to waste these...

    Bottles

Im not sure how to do this but I have over 100 pry-top bottles mostly 12oz but also a fair number of tall boys as well. I don't have any use for them anytime soon with a new baby etc so I would like to sell them. They have all been rinsed out etc and I would really like only $30 for them all. I...

    New Batch

Last night I finally purchased a glass jug with stopper and 3 piece airlock. Since I was unable to get my hands on Star san or One Step I used bleach and water solution to sanitize everything then I ran it all thru the dishwasher on Hi-Temp with no soap. I boiled my 100% not from concentrate...

did i just ruin my batch of cider?

I cleaned it etc. wiped the foam of that had over flowed and put it back on. Instantly foam was being forced thru it again. How often should i take it of and clean it?

Commercial beers that let you down?

did i just ruin my batch of cider?

did i just ruin my batch of cider?

I am very new to brewing/fermenting and i just did up a batch of (hopefully) hard cider using 1 gallon of 100% apple juice from the store, fresh made mango puree, and 1 pound of dark brown sugar slowly bringing the whole mixture to a rolling boil until everything was smoothly blended. Then, just...

    First timer cider experiment

I just had a friend tell me how to 'brew' hard cider at home using store bought pure apple juice, sugar, and brewers yeast. Being financially strapped and unable to buy a full brewing kit I followed his directions and made a 1 gallon batch using brown sugar and let it ferment 8 days in the same...
