    Thinking of Switching

Well, YMMV... I've made a LOT of beer (all grain) and a LOT of wine (all the wine is from kits and I have no plans to change.) Therefore my comments are relative to kits, mostly. Wine is just SO MUCH EASIER!!! The sterility issues we brewers take great pains to control are greatly reduced on the...

    Window AC Maintenance Question Walk-In

OK, this is the second question: To be able to 'properly' clean the 'innards' I must slide the innards out of the case. Right? So, I'm guessing that the innards slide to the inside for removal. Right? But, the casing seems to really secured to the guts of the unit. So, the newbie...

    Cleaning Window AC

I'm having to wait for an Achilles tendon repair to heal a little more before I wrestle with the beast. Then I could post a pic.

    Cleaning Window AC

Actually I am wondering what material does accumulate as this AC is indoors on a walk-in fridge.

    Cleaning Window AC

This won't be fun, I'm sure. The directions said to remove the AC (slide out from the case) and clean the guts of the AC yearly. Well, of course, I didn't do that so now 4 years in it must be dirty and is shutting off, I believe to thermal overload. Question: Would you have any advice about...

Window AC with 100% Recirculating Setting

That has not been my experience with the two I now own. Earlier, I remember switches and/or dials for the user to select. But, now not so much. Thanks

Window AC with 100% Recirculating Setting

I must purchase a new AC window unit for my walk-in with Coolbot. I specifically am looking for a unit that allows me to defeat any introduction of 'outside' air. A few units seem to have a switch allowing this setting. I need 12,000 BTU's. Would you know a brand and model # that allows...

    Damaged Post Threads

But...you might have the issue if someone gave you a damaged keg. So, I have 36 kegs and only one has been damaged 'on my watch' in the last 12 years. But, I do have a couple kegs I would like to put back into service. Does anyone know what size tap and thread I need to straighten the threads?

    Damaged Post Threads

I have a lot of kegs and they are from a variety of sources. . . who knows. If I use a tap, what size would it be? How would I get the tap handles below the keg handles.

    Damaged Post Threads

I now have damaged the posts on about 3 kegs such that they will not accept a post. I know there is a way to repair the threads but not being very mechanical, I thought I'd ask. I just got this nice new catalog from Harbor Freight just begging for a purchase. Thank you.

My Wit needs some orange flavor

Dunno why but this batch is lacking in orange flavor. Does anyone have experience adding orange flavor post fermentation? Thanks

clogged hop filter in brew kettle

Yes, they plug... But, you can get yourself a long (plastic) spoon and gently scrape the sides and bottom of the screen to open up the pores. This helps but is not a total solution. This causes some of the hops to get pushed through the screen but, most stay in. This problem also means...

    Walk-In Fridge

Up until about 5 minutes ago I was deeply conflicted about the cost and hassle to build of my walk-in fridge. No more... Take a look at what you get for more than $8.5k with a 'Brew Cave'. That's with no floor mind you...Wow. http://is.gd/yNXqOp For that price it ought to have lifetime...

White Labs container survive pressure cooking?

Well, I did by glass tubes and they are working fine. But, I do have bunches of the spent tubes from White Labs lying aroung. I'll do the test, in a couple weeks or more and report back. Thanks

White Labs container survive pressure cooking?

No, I was looking to sterilize it for yeast slants.

White Labs container survive pressure cooking?

Will an empty White Labs yeast vial survive pressure cooking at 15 pounds of pressure? I figure I'd ask before potentially making a big mess. Thanks
