Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

Got a question for everybody. I'm a newbie and I've done several 10 gallon batches of different brews so far. I've always used 2 pouches of yeast with my 10 gallon recipes (basically double what the 5 gal recipe calls for) Why does this Centennial Blonde recipe only call for only 1 pouch of...

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

I have a mason jar of used Nottingham yeast in my fridge that I washed & bottled up last week from when I brewed a nut brown ale. Can I use this yeast for this mead recipe? If so, how much should I use? (Don't know if it's been covered in this thread...just don't have the time to go through...

    Help me double this recipe

I'm a newbie with around 5 brews under my belt now. For my next brew, I want to try Edwarts Haus Pale Ale AG, 10 gallon batch (using Notty yeast). 1. Is it as simple as just doubling the grain bill for this recipe? 2. I'm assuming the temperatures will all remain the same, but will the...

Cheap & Easy 10 Gallon Rubbermaid MLT Conversion

I'm building my mash tun tomorrow, and have all my supplies ready to go. I read a prior post where someone said the weight of the mash will crush the braided hose, thus defeating the purpose of using the long hose as a filter. Has anyone tried inserting some type of a ss rigid structure...

    Laid Off Beer Advice

Thank you all for your advice. I'll definitely try an all grain brew next time. Regarding my job, I'll probably be recalled to my company within 6 months hopefully. Although I am looking, you have to leave time for hobbies on the side to keep yourself sane LOL thanks again:mug:

    Laid Off Beer Advice

Need some advice.... I'm a newbie, and I've only been brewing for a few months now. I currently have 2 brews under my belt (an extract stout and an extract amber). But unfortunately, I was suddenly laid off from my job. Even though I've only used the extract kits, I can't afford to spend...

    Problem with Specific Gravity

jkaylor, thanks for the reply. So your advice is to bottle at whatever gravity it is at, as long as it's been stable at that gravity for 2 days? Not to sound like a broken record, but should I disregard my instructions where it says to bottle between 10-12?

    Problem with Specific Gravity

I'm in the middle of brewing my first batch and I seem to be stalled at 1.020 specific gravity. The temperature has been consistently between 68-70 degrees. I've followed all instructions, including sterilizing everything. I bought the TrueBrue Amber kit. The included instructions state...
