    That sounds pretty epic. Just curious, what do you mean a gallon jug of water on the lid? Like sitting on top to keep the lid on or something?

    Yeah I saw some people had some luck with that, I tried my local target today and couldn't find one. Sonofgrok, do you know offhand what they're called at target so I can search their website? My searches of gallon jugs and gallon jars were unsuccessful. Even a brand name would be help.

    Yeah you can bulk age all of the kit wines. They're great right away but they definitely improve. P.S. Saramc, sorry I'm not following you around, I just happen to be going to a lot of these same posts lol.

    When Midwest had a groupon a while back I purchased a wine starter kit to get some additional equipment at a good price and it came with this COASTAL RED (Red Burgundy) Wine Making Kit - Vintners Reserve I really enjoyed it, nice and dry, dark as blood. Delicious.

    Quick question - I don't have a way to steam cook rice at the moment. Would this also work if I cooked it in a pot like I usually do? Thanks!

    Disaster! I opened a bottle and it tastes okay but it smells like rotten eggs and apple cider mixed together! I don't know if it's from the potassium metabisulfite or what but is there any fix??? Thanks guys.

    Okay so on Friday I checked the SG which was at 1.009 (down from 1.064) and so I decided the time had arrived!     Hey all. Ive got to check my SG tonight but I have a feeling it's ready to move to another carboy. Only issue is I don't think I'll have time to make up the syrup and bottle until Friday. Would it hurt anything to let it sit in the second carboy until then? THANKS!!!

    So I just wanted to check in. Pitched the yeast on thanksgiving. A couple hours in it looked like this And this next pic is from today. Airlock bubbling like crazy! Can't wait for this it smells amazing.

    You have to pasteurize at some point or the bottles will explode. Mike recommends filling a plastic soda bottle when you bottle and then using the firmness of the soda bottle dictate when you stop carbonation.
