    water profile question

I thought I read somewhere that too much sodium can help clarify a beer, which I think is happening with my hazy IPAs.

    water profile question

yes, came to the conclusion last night and pulled trigger on RO system. should work well - I built a greenhouse that is also my brewhouse in winter time, should be able to hook it up in there. one question, when you are planning a brewday, are you just filling up buckets or do you use a...

    water profile question

It's a good point, but I've checked it three times throughout the year, only a small variation. I figured it's too much to overcome. using distilled water and building a profile is disheartening if you're doing an 11 gallon all-grain batch. that's a lot of water to buy for each batch. might...

    water profile question

I live in Concord MA. water profile here has been excellent the last several years for brewing. just add a little gypsum for hazy IPAs. last year, town switched water sources and now the amount of Na and Cl has skyrocketed. new water profile is below. my question is : is this chloride so...

    Picobrew Z

lost about 1/3 to 1/2 gallon. the taste of the wort was good, but color was definitely off. I scaled my really good NEIPA down, but out of the Z, came out a lot darker. can't see how that connects to the spill over. [EDIT] think it might be because I had the metal keg lid on instead of the...

    Picobrew Z

well, just did my first brew today. As it was cooling after boiling, starting leaking everywhere. frustrating

    Picobrew Z

and you have used it and it works well?

    Picobrew Z

I'm going to start off with my standard NEIPA just to see how it does. If it works, want to follow up with a blonde that I can use to top off our 12g sour barrel. Do y'all order the washer packs from Pico or do you have any easy substitute?

    Picobrew Z

I think thorough sanitizing should be just fine. seems like doing it right after you cool down is no different than bringing in buckets of wort and pouring into the normal fermenter. adds extra aeration too.

    Picobrew Z

well, they had a great offer at Nat'l Homebrew convention last month in RI. almost half off the Z1 units so I pulled the trigger. plan to use it to make small batches (bases) for my sours while I use my brewtable for the big stuff. I was thinking of not fermenting in the corny. after it is...
