They take the median salary and compare it to the average price of beer bought at the store. I'd say $45k isn't completely out of bounds for the median salary in the U.S. It's not hard to find professionals making close to 6 figures or more, and some degrees pay over $45k right out of college...

Oh, I'd also recommend Abita, but I'm guessing you can probably get it in Houston.

I like Lazy Magnolia from MS and Sweetwater from GA. Not sure if they distribute as far west as Texas. I'd recommend you stop by Wine World when you're there. They've got one of the best craft beer selections in the area, so you should be able to find a good regional beer to your liking...

One more question. I'm getting ready to rack one of said previous brews to a secondary so as to make room for the current brew. I sanitized it using starsan, but I'm fearing the foam. Would this much have any adverse effects? There's quite a bit more foam than I was expecting.
