Jones'ing for a stainless fermenter - maybe Delta

Almost done. Been several years. Apologies for the off-topic.

I imagine I'll be doing a few more brews in my plastics. Now if I could just figure out how to ship LiFePO4 cells up here to build me a boat battery. Talk about shipping costs! Even the barge from Seattle wants about $400 extra in hazmat fees.

Amazon does have the Vevor. One of the few local brewers has them and is happy enough with them. I'll have to look up the 201 steel.. familiar with 304 and 316 as I'm building an ocean cruising sailboat. Probably something I should do at first and see if I head towards needing a conical/or keg...

Thanks Deadalus - great info I'll be bookmarking. Back in college when I thought I would be a biologist I did play around some with agar agar and petri dishes. Might be something I could get into.. got a pressure cooker that is under used. I could probably find the tubes for free shipping on the...

Actually not a bad idea. I sometimes bug folks who are coming up to bring something that I would ship to their house for free. But it is pretty rare for visitors up here. And the airlines are really screwing down their baggage rules.. charging people extra for bags. Alaskans still get a deal on...

I asked SS Brewtech for a shipping estimate on their gear. Since I assume free shipping for the contiguous states is subsidized by an increase in price.. I also asked if I could get a small rebate on the prices. This has worked for me once or twice.. but not this time. His shippng is Chronical...

I do have a good floating dip tube setup but haven't used it yet.. and I have the Cold Crash Guardian. I usually just pour my dry yeast into the wort, but your method could get me doing starters. I'm usually a bit afraid of shippng liquid yeast up here.. you should see what happens to chocolate...

I have a friend here that has a couple Vevors. They ship free from Amazon to here.. for around $168. The Anvil bucket ships for around $220 plus (186 plus 24 shipping plus sales tax) - sometimes if watched, one can find perhaps a bit cheaper deals. I wasn't sure about the quality of the Vevor...

I've been looking at many reviews of many different things. One thing I've been thinking about is yeast harvesting and how to do it with a bucket type. With the Anvil bucket's racking arm nearly to the bottom of the tank it seems it would be easy. Not having to worry about 1.5" or 2" dump...

Yeah, maybe I shouldn't start with something quite like that yet. Not that I wouldn't want to.

I hear you. I think it was the Apartment Brewer on youtube who reviewed an X2 and mentioned how much cleaning all the parts takes. Got me rethinking. Love the jacketed unit for cold crashing.. but if I can find an upright freezer or even a refrigerator big enough to fit whatever I get, and...

How I started. Actually, my first batch in a plastic bucket was made with 2 other fellows while in college. We drank a bit too much during the brew day and none of us quite knew what the other was doing. Anyway.. we ended up with exploding bottles in the closet and undrinkable beer. I did have...

I keep an eye on sinks, but amazon generally charges about $500. There is a Vevor for $450, but the comments... I make do. My sink is maybe 18" square, maybe 21 x 18, I forget.. but the faucet takes up a lot of that. Thanks for the response! Still looking at the Delta.. but I have some soul...

Thanks for the data points. It would be easier if you said you didn't like either! (I jokes).

off topic but for sh*ts and giggles when I was doing extract brewing (started back in the mid 70's - actually brewed some wine when I was 14 earlier), here is a label I stuck on one of my bottled brews. Moonlight springs is where we get our water. Really good water.

Wish I could tig weld! Can't justify tho learning it and equipping at this stage of the game. Though I'm confident I could. But yes, a dizzying array of choice!

Wow, good stuff. I am aware that folks have experiences or have heard things that are different from others. So I do take that into account. I am following a few brewers on the youtubes and take some of what they say under consideration.. though as you say.. people have different experiences...

Thank you! Sheesh.. options. it isn't getting any more easy to decide. I need to do some self reflection. Part of me wants something like a Brewbuilt Uni - in fact Bobby at brewhardware is looking at refining his shipping cost for me, but also recommended a Fermzilla All Rounder. I know people...
