    Taplist on TV through USB

Roku is a very difficult platform to load custom things into. If you decide to use another device Firesticks are frequently on sale for $25 or even $15, or you could use a Raspberry Pi zero for $5.

Your Story Behind Choosing Your User Name/Handle?

I'm not very creative so mine is just a different way to spell Mike and the year I was born. Use that name for pretty much everything online.

    Used kegs purchase

They should be fine. Most of these kegs are over 30 years old, even if buying from a good source they just replace seals and pressure test.

    Fridge freezer combo headache

On some you can remove the "cold-colder" adjustment knob and turn the screw that the knob operates to a higher temp than freezing.

    Used buckets

Paint and plaster can be poisonous. Where do you live that you can't find buckets? New ones from Home Depot are $5. They are not food grade and not recommended but would be better than used paint buckets. You could always order new ones, I don't think they are that much.

I need a rootbeer recipe and a supplier

Safrole found in the Sassafrass root can be carcinogenic. But that is IF you are highly sensitive to it and drink a cubic asston of it all the time for a long time.

Sassafrass leaves a good alternative to root bark?

I got a good laugh at that one. Thanks!

I need a rootbeer recipe and a supplier

It's not expensive at all. Just take a walk in the woods, the stuff grows from Florida to Maine. The leaves are easy to spot and even easier to smell.

Poll: What is your investment in homebrewing?

I got most of my stuff for free. Several glass and several plastic carboys for free when my work was cleaning out storage space. Mash tun from a cooler someone was throwing out because the outer shell had a crack. Brew kettle for free because my mom bought a turkey fryer on clearance then...

    Headed East; Beer Recommendations please.

There are plenty of good breweries and beer stores with good selections in NC. The problem is none of them are in Jacksonville. You are in a military town so most of those guys just drink Miller Lite, I used to be one of them. I live just outside Raleigh and there are 11 breweries and...

    Perry

I made one recently that turned out pretty good. Just pressed 3 buckets of pears that a friend had in his yard. No idea what kind they are but they are as hard as baseballs and have virtually no taste. I ended up with about 3 gallons of pear wine that actually turned out pretty good...

    pumpkin cider

I just racked my pumpkin cider yesterday. I used 12lbs of pumpkin guts from the kids jack-o-lanterns at Halloween. Put it all in a grain bag and boiled in 6 qts of water for an hour. Ended up with 2 gallons of cider. It's pretty clear now, a nice orange color, smells great, tastes good. I...

    Pumpkin apple cider ideas

Just pumpkin juice right now. I plan to add spices when I rack it but I haven't decided what yet. I have a habit of "I wonder what ??? would make if I fermented it" then making it up as I go. So far I'm 7 - 0 for "I wonder" batches coming out good but I'm sure there's a dud in my future.

    Pumpkin apple cider ideas

I just started what I hope will be pumpkin cider. Ended up with 12lbs of pumpkin guts after the kids made their jack-o-lanterns and my wife pulled out the seeds to roast. I boiled the guts in a grain bag in 6qts of water for 1 hour. Ended up with 2 gallons of pumpkin juice after pouring off...

ABV higher than yeast should handle?

Yep, looked at my hydrometer and that was it. Guess I shouldn't try and read small numbers at 7am after working night shift, or at least double check before I put my stupidity on the internet.

ABV higher than yeast should handle?

That makes more sense. Thanks for the reply.

ABV higher than yeast should handle?

I recently made about 2 1/2 gallons of pear wine from fresh pressed pears with Lavlin D47 wine yeast. I overshot the sugar (3 lbs) and ended up with an OG reading of 1.190. I figured it would just end up sweet when the yeast topped out around 14 - 15% ABV. 3 weeks later the FG was 1.002 for...
