    Suggestions for table saison

Despite several brew day issues (such as a clogged CFC on my grainfather) which led to an overnight cooling period and forgetting to aerate the wort, the beer turned out as a simple but very serviceable table beer. (Note: I did add a 1/2 oz of EKG at 5 min as suggested by bucketnative). The...

    Suggestions for table saison

I'm looking to brew a low-abv table saison and basing it off of Northern Brewer's Petite Saison kit with a few modifications. Grain bill: 4.5# Pilsner 2.75# Vienna 0.75# Wheat 0.5# Flaked oats Hops: 0.5 oz Magnum @ 60 min (~25IBU) Additions: 0.5 oz Coriander Yeast: Belle Saison with...

Festbier Bee Cave Brewery Oktoberfest Ale

I brewed this on the 1st of April using Nottingham and subbing in Crystal 20 for the Caravienne due to availability and fermented at 58ºF in a basement waterbath. Just sampled this morning and the OG dropped from 1.062 to 1.015 in 10 days and tasted pretty good to me. Don't know if I will be...

    Beers for wedding in PA

While I recognize (and apologize) for initially posting this in the wrong place, the feedback that I have gotten from the members in this forum far outweighs that which I have received from the commercial beer forum. Thanks again for you suggestions and opinions, they are much appreciated! Cheers

Beers for an August wedding in PA

I have been tasked with selecting commercial offerings to satisfy the palettes of the nuptial attendees and I do not take this responsibility lightly. While I could opt for the easy route and choose beers of which I am familiar with on this coast, that would violate my principles and ethics as...

    Beers for wedding in PA

I appreciate all the responses to the post, regardless of interpretation! ECBrew was correct in that my intent was in asking for recommendations of commercially available brews. While I would love to provide my own beers, there is no way that I would be transporting them cross-country. I...

    Beers for wedding in PA

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately I can not assume that they are beer-geeks like me so I need to create options that will cover a wide audience. I think having a solid PA would allow for a more aggressive IPA. I am thinking that a nice hef/wit/saison would allow people to try something new...

    Beers for wedding in PA

I am helping out my fiancée's family to figure out beers for her brothers wedding in Lewisburg Pennsylvania in August. I am a west coaster and am not really familiar with the regional brews out there. They are looking for 3-4 options to go with a keg of Yuengling (grooms request). I am thinking...

    Kegerator advice

I have been brewing for a couple years and have 20 batches under my belt but am looking to move into the world of kegging. I girlfriend and I are moving into a two bedroom apartment and I am not wanting to go down the DIY route, so I am looking at 2-tap kegerators such as the Kegco K209b at...

    Anchor Summer Ale clone

My girlfriend was a big fan of that beer last summer. I am no expert, but your reasoning seems sound to me. Please post your final recipe and how it worked out. Good luck and happy brewing! Cheers!

Can You Brew It recipe for Deschutes Obsidian Stout

Just brewed a modified version of this last night. I kept the same grain bill but changed the hops. I used an ounce of Magnum @ 90min, and then an ounce of Simcoe at 30 and 5 min. I pitched S-04 onto it, as I have been predominately using dry yeasts as of late. Hit my OG target at 1.067...

Heading to Portland and looking for brewery/taproom suggestions

We visited breweries and taprooms: Burnside (x2) Basecamp Bailey's Apex The commons Green Dragon Amnesia Wish we could have hit more, but that just leaves them for the next trip. One a side note, we also went to Lardo for lunch; their pork belly and Korea pork shoulder sandwiches are delicious!

Heading to Portland and looking for brewery/taproom suggestions

Thanks again to everyone for the great suggestions. We just got back yesterday and had a fantastic beer-filled trip to Portland. I think our favorite spots were Burnside Brewery and The Commons, though there are still many more left to visit on our next trip. Cheers!

Heading to Portland and looking for brewery/taproom suggestions

My girlfriend and I are heading up to Portland for a long weekend of beer and food carts and I am hoping to get some suggestions of breweries and/or taprooms to check out. We will be staying near the Lloyd District and won't have a car so we will be focusing on places that are easy to get to...
