The Most Terrible Beer Ever orrr The Worst Beer Of All Time?

Tennents Lager is pretty bad tastes like skunky St Pauli Girl. SA Cherry Wheat is lousy....I find an "ashtray" like aftertaste to it. While the aroma of SA Honey Porter is wonderful, the taste is terrible! A lot of beers have been bad but these are the ones that stick out the most.

    Scotch ale, too pale.

lionofjudah I have a Brewer's Best Scotch Ale 7 days in the primary right now. I also believed it to be really pale when I took a reading. How long did you have yours in the primary? After seven days mine had thick krausen on the top as if still in fermentation and the gravity was almost near...

    Caramel cream ale?

Srm 775 You're absolutely right! Definitely an infection. I wish I had my camera I would post a picture! Wild yeast??? What ever it is, it is almost lined up uniformly along the sides of the bottle. Definitely going to try this one again!

    Caramel cream ale?

Well I used 3.5 oz of McCormick pure vanilla extract. Ultimately I feel that I did not age this beer as long as I should have (which is of course all part of the learning process.) I also feel that I could have used vanilla bean(s) in secondary instead of extract. I am STILL having yeast off...

    Caramel cream ale?

Okay I goofed up somewhere. Brewed following 1-2-3 (maybe why). Cracked one tonight. Quick dissolving head, very smooth and drinkable. Problem: carbonating with DME... smells and tastes slightly like rotten fruit... kinda like the smell of a wheat after a week in the primary. No vanilla...

    Wassail

Hi I am looking for a wassail for the holidays, I am wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction?

    Caramel cream ale?

Thanks toaster! Last one - is the DME boiled as long as corn sugar would or longer? I recently ordered hops from AHS and Northern Brewer. Cheers!

    Caramel cream ale?

So essentially, I'll be replacing the sugar that is normally boiled for bottling with the 1.5 cup of DME?

    Caramel cream ale?

Thanks Bier! In that case where it says "Priming: 1.5 cups of light DME" should I just add that to the rest of malts or simply nix it?

    Caramel cream ale?

Hi I am relatively new at home brewing, and I've decided to make this one based on the replies! I have a couple of questions that I can't find in the threads - Do I use 2 or 2.5 gallons of water for the boil? Also - Am I correct in adding the 1.5 cups light DME when transferring to the...

    Cask condition

Well I would like to make an attempt at cask conditioning but I'm really not sure how:mug:

    Cask condition

So just for the sake of discussion; :ban: How do you sanitize a beer cask? I'm thinking steam but doesn't that make the cask wood soggy or degrade the wood flavoring? Sorry if this is the wrong forum but I wasn't sure where to put it.

    yeast blues

I finally cracked one! Basic honey wheat! Delicious, tiny bubbles, very clear, etc!! Everything turned out great but it seems as though I have the neverending yeast! I have a little at the bottom of the bottles. Perhaps time in another conditioning carboy? P.S. I followed the 1-2-3 rule.:mug:

    Fermentation Question

My first extract; honey wheat. I pitched the yeast late Friday night following the directions carefully and woke up Saturday morning to find slow bubbling to fast bubbling through Sunday afternoon. It is now Sunday night and the bubbling seems to have stopped completely, like a light switch...

    Using flavors in extract brewing

Forgive me I'm very new at this. I recently heard of adding flavor extracts to the latter end of a wort boil. For example, I want to try an extract kit porter and add vanilla extract or carmel extract. Is there any way to approximate in a formula the appropriate amount based on hop IBU...
