    Gelatin?

Hey guys. I am new to adding Gelatin to the beer. What is this for? and what would happen if an idiot like myself didn't read the directions on the gelatin packet and just added it and stirred? The packet says boil in water to dissolve and add when hot then stir vigorously. I just added and...

    Shawnee Midnight Ale

This was a Malt extract with steeping grains, the instructions didn't say what the OG should be, nor did they say what the FG should be. My brother and sister in law live in Kansas, and they brew, they sent me the recipe and kit for X-mas..

    My bews so far...

Thats a great idea! Ill use that for my next batch. The information for this batch online says my starting gravity should have been 1.039. I have been adding my top off water straight to the cooled wort in my fermenter then aerating, mixing and stiring for about 5 minutes.

    My bews so far...

I thought so as well, but I made this recipe once already and my finishing gravity was the same as this one. I don't think its going to come down any lower than 1.012. My last batch came out very good, I tasted this one last night and it looks, smells and tastes great. :mug:

Here it is.. On the left we have White House Honey Ale, on the right we have William Moors Wiezen Beer. Honey ale has been in the fermenter for 2.5 weeks, OG 1.060, Gravity now is 1.017. Wiezen Beer has been fermenting for two weeks OG 1.020, now 1.012. I am going to bottle the Honey Ale this...

    Question about my New batch..

just wondering your opinions. My White House honey ale has been in the fermenter since 11/03/12, the OG was 1.060. I checked the Gravity again on 11/14, it was 1.020, then again on the 18th and it was 1.017. so I am assuming things are going ok. When I checked on the 18th I also did a smell and...

Thank you for that info. I looked on NB's website and downloaded the instructions and info but it only give an OG of 1.062 does not list a FG. I guess ill just keep an eye on the hydrometer readings for now lol. :mug:

    Question about my New batch..

This is the kit from Northern Brewers. Its a combination of DME, LME, and grains. Not sure what you would call it(noob here lol). The instructions that came with the kit did not specify OG or FG. I looked up a couple recipies online and found one that said OG=1.055 and FG= 1.013 and another that...

    Question about my New batch..

Ok, I am on Day 12 of this batch. My OG was 1.060, right now its 1.020. i will check again in a few days. My airlock was bubbling the day after pitching, then stopped and hasnt shown any signs of activity since. should I be concerned? I also have a 5 gallon batch of Wiezen Beer that has been...

    Question about my New batch..

Thank you for the replies. So if I choose not to go to the secondary, based on the instructions ( 3 weeks in primary, 3 weeks in secondary) how long would I keep it in the fermenter if I do not transfer to secondary? 6 weeks?

    Question about my New batch..

So I have a new batch of White House Honey Ale in the fermenter. The instructions say to ferment for 2 to 3 weeks then transfer to a secondary for another 2 to 3 weeks for conditioning. Is the secondary necessary?

    White house beer

I have a batch of White House Honey Ale in the fermenter as we speak, my OG was 1.060 if that helps. Some of the readings I have seen online say this recipe should be OG 1.055 - FG 1.013. To add, my instructions say to ferment two to three weeks then transfer to a secondary for another two to...
