    Thanks. I'm pretty new to this so I'm not sure how carbonating works but if I stabilize the finished product I was given the impression by a local winery that I could use that type of bottle. It's all a learning process for me at this point. Has anyone had success with used screw tops at all...

    My friends gave me some glass screw top vodka bottles to bottle my cider. Are those sufficient or are there any issues I should be aware of using them? Thanks.

    Just realized there's a separate cider forum, but it's basically a wine recipe so the question still stands.

    Starting to think degassing is an unachievable feat....

    I don't have the recipe on me, but there's a stabilizing solution that stops fermentation and halts and new fermentation. I know one part is campden.

    Black cherry apple hard cider

    I'm making my first batch of home brew. I'm making 3 gallons of hard apple cider but decided to substitute half a gallon with black cherry juice. Do I need to add any tanons? It's almost ready to be racked, so is actually a little late to be asking this question? Thanks.
