    Brewing the Midwest ferocious IPA tomorrow. Using WLP 007 (best before May 27th). I have always made a starter. Don't have the time. Can I just pitch the one vial or should I go get another one. Do I risk a stall or a sweet beer with only one vial ? Any thoughts Slainte Sent from my iPhone...

    Brown sugar

    Anyone use brown sugar for bottling. Have 4oz of corn sugar but need 5 oz. was going to add 1 oz of brown sugar. Any issues with this ? Slainte

    Currently fermenting an Amber Ale with us-05. First time using this yeast. Pitched the yeast at 62 degrees sat. evening. Have the temp controlled fermentation chamber set min 62 max 64. Fermomator strip Is reading 58. Their is a nice head of krausen. Is this too low of a temp for this yeast ...

    Brewing an amber ale. Question is what's the optimum temp to take you pre boil at ? At 140 degrees beersmith calculates 1.025 to be 1.044. At 80 degrees it calculates 1.040 to be 1.042. Any ideas ? Slainte

    Hi All Just got the app. Had a question about the Batch Sparge Options Batch Sparge: Yes Use equal batches: No Fill mash tun: 90.0 % Drain tun before sparge: No What do they mean by use equal batches. I thought that you use 1.5 times the amount of water when batch sparging. Any help Slainte

    First AG, how efficient

    Hi All, I brewed my first AG last Sunday. It was a simple Hefe, 6lbs of german pilsner and 6lbs of german wheat malt. The whole mash and sparge went very well. Mashed at 154 only lost 1degree over the hour, sparged at 170 for 10 minutes. From the first runnings I attempted with my wine...

    WLP300 crazy fermentation

    Brewed first SG Sunday. Aerated with Williams wand. Pitched 1 liter starter. No activity till Monday now it's crazy. In a 6.5 gallon Carboy with blow off tube into bucket. All full of krausen. Anyone use this before ? Attaching pics Slainte

    First AG done and dusted

    First AG went very well today. 10 gallon round igloo held temp to within one degree, started at 154 after an hour it was 153. First running's was 2.5 gallons.     First AG BATCH

    Hi all Ended up with 7 gallons of worth. My Og adjusted for temp is 1.030. IBrewmaster says pre boil I should be at 1.049. So I am on the low side. What can I do add some DME late in the boil ? It's a hefe I'm brewing Slainte

    Hi All, I am going to make a paddle for stirring in the grains into my 10 gallon mash tun. If I make it out of oak do you think the oak will impart any weird flavors into the mash. Has anyone else made one and if so what type of wood did they use ? Slainte
