Excess Boil-off (Altitude or Temperature? )

The last 2 batches I have brewed I have seen excessive boil off. I started with right around 6G and after a 60 minute boil I was down to about 4G on each. The first batch it was about 15 degrees out and it took considerably long to get to a boil, so I figured that what caused me to lose more on...

    Measuring of Freezer Fermenter Temps

I'm looking for a cheap way to monitor the temps in my freezer turned fermenting chamber. I would like to take temp readings every say 15 minutes to 1 hour to see what the temp is and how my Control Products TC-9102D-HV Dual Stage temp controller is maintain the set temp. It could be as...

    Bottle sanitation question

That is exactly what I do. I usually run a bottle brush through them before I put them in the dish washer, just to make sure there isn't any residue left in the bottle. So far everything has been good, granted I'm only on my 3rd batch. Troy

American IPA Specific Gravity & Taste

Here is the recipe I followed: http://thebrewhut.com/recipes-2/ I did a full boil because I have a pot big enough to do that, not sure if that would have made a difference. Thanks Troy

American IPA Specific Gravity & Taste

American IPA Specific Gravity & Taste

So, now my IPA is 3 weeks old. I let it sit in the fermenter for those 3 weeks and bottled it just last night. After bottling I gave it a try and it still tastes the same as it did after week one, which is nothing like an IPA. My FG is 1.011 which was in the range of 1.009 - 1.012 that this...

Higher SG than Predicted (First All Grain Brew)

Is there a way to calculate your efficiency, so that I can adjust the settings in BeerSmith?

Higher SG than Predicted (First All Grain Brew)

I brewed up a 2 1/2 gallon batch of Dry Stout, took the default recipe that came with Beersmith and cut it down from 5 gallons to 2 1/2 gallons. The app called for a 1.039 SG after boil. I had a SG of 1.044. I'm just curious, does that mean I had better conversion from the grains the the 72%...

American IPA Specific Gravity & Taste

I brewed an American IPA (My Second Home Brew) a little over a week ago and took a sample last night to test the Specific Gravity to see where I stood. The SG came in at 1.010 which was within my target range for the Extract Kit I purchased, I'm waiting to take a couple more measurements...
