What are some of the mistakes you made...where your beer still turned out great!

In case anyone was wondering, this actually turned out pretty good. After a week in primary I racked to secondary for another 8 days or so, then kegged. After about 4 days in keg it was surprisingly good. Pretty hoppy/bitter, but as a lazy hop head, I approve! It's almost like I meant to do it.

Too Soon to Move to All Grain?

I started on day one with all grain. It was very overwhelming at first but I'm glad I started that way.

What are some of the mistakes you made...where your beer still turned out great!

I just brewed a cascade smash. My intent was to continuously hop it with 3oz of cascade for the entire 60 minute boil. Just it was coming to a rolling boil, a friend that I have not spoken to in a long called me. We got to cutting up on the phone. When it was time to add a couple of pellets...

    Kegerator build help

I have just purchased on old/used GE refrigerator to build into a kegerator. I had a kegerator already built and functioning but tried to screw a sign on the side of it and hit a freon line and brick'ed it. Had no idea they were even on the sides. So I want to be extra careful with this...

    A message to extract brewers.

I started from day one as an AG brewer. I felt going in that I didn't want to "waste time" with kits and extracts. I've just got this weird thing that when I learn something new, I wanna do it old school and learn it from the ground up. I felt like using kits was "cheating." Obviously I know...

    Water Analysis

I use my tap water (hard water) and both of the AG brews I've done have been great. Would it be OMFG amazing if I used soft water?

New Recipe I'm Trying this weekend (help!)

Hey guys, please take a look at this and tell me if it has a chance to be decent...I'm fairly new to brewing (this will be my third batch) so please excuse if I left something out (just ask). I'm going for a rye IPA with a little color to it but not quite black. Haven't really looked into any...

    My first brew tastes like...

Okay, this is good info. The room itself was usually around 70. The wort was usually around 62-66 anytime I checked it. I don't really have a great place in the house to leave it that doesn't get that warm... does it hurt it to leave it in a shed or something where it's getting down into the...

    My first brew tastes like...

Hello chicks and dudes, So my first home brew was an AG IPA that went well I think... I had a friend with me who is an old school home brewer helping along the way. My intention was for it to be a hoppy IPA style brew... Hopped it vigorously with cascade for the entire boil using about 5...

    Hoppy Stout

Hello guys. I am brand new to brewing, jumped right in head first to AG and I have my first batch almost ready to rack into secondary. It's a basic IPA (I hope). For my next batch I would like to do a stout style beer but with a nice hop kick to it. I can't help it, I'm a hop head. I...
