    First batch. . . yummy!!

I'm 2 bottles into my first inaugural batch of American Amber. 2 weeks in the primary and about a week in the bottles, just had to try it. Nice carbonation and tastes so smooth. No clue on the alcohol content, but feels nice. LOL. Gonna bottle my Summer Ale this weekend after sitting on...

    Racked to fruit - question?

Hello, so I racked my second batch onto some frozen berries. All looks fine, but my question is doesn't the fruit spoil and hurt the beer? Or does the alcohol in the beer kill anything hurtful? I was planning to let it sit a week or two with the fruit, all of which floated to the top, then...

    Racking to fruit

From what I've "heard" you just rack right onto whatever fruit you want and it actually gives the yeast more sugar to eat. Let's see what the verdict is. :)

    Racking to fruit

Hey guys, I was thinking of racking my Summer Ale onto some oranges in my secondary fermenter. What is the process? Do I just cut a few oranges in half and put them into the carboy and rack on top? Leave it there for a couple weeks? Thanks so much, John

    Meet my new fermentation system

Well, turns out that my set up is keeping the beer at an even 62 to 62 degrees. I checked the internal temp and it's right on with the reading on the controller. John

    Meet my new fermentation system

Hello all. My electronic temp control unit arrived last night, so decided to set it up with my 5 cubic foot chest freezer. I programmed the "set point" to 65 degrees with a 5 degree "differential." I put my Summer Ale into the freezer and it seems to be doing its job. When the freezer...

    Pictures of Batch #1

Decided to bottle my first batch of American Amber. Tasted it, not too shabby. Got 54 bottles, will now let it sit a few weeks. What a painful process. 54 bottles, took 3 hours start to finish. Do I need to let them sit at room temp, or can I stick in the fridge?? Got 5 gallons in...

    Pictures of Batch #1

Cool, thanks. Next couple batches arrive in a day or two. Got a nice Summer Pale Ale and a German Oktoberfest. Looking forward to the temp control unit so I can put into chest freezer, changing the ice bottles down here in Miami is a pain in the arse. LOL. Had a nice Spring Ale from Sam...

    Pictures of Batch #1

Thanks for the tip on the racking to secondary. So, let's say I wanted to add some fruit to see how it tastes, is this when I would do it? Just rack into secondary on top of some frozen fruit and just leave it in there until I bottle? Thanks, John

    Pictures of Batch #1

Thanks all. Didn't taste it today, but it sure smells like some yummy goodness. I will fridge for a couple days before bottling. Just hoping it clears up, not sure what an American Amber is supposed to look like. I'm into this now, already ordered two more batches. . . More to come.

    Pictures of Batch #1

Trying to add pics, so hopefully it works. Racked my 1st Inaugural Batch of Brewer's Best American Amber into my glass secondary fermenter. Got in a tub of water keeping nicely at about 70 degrees until my electronic temperature control unit arrives. Then my new chest freezer will be the...

    Can I drink it??

Awesome...all is not lost. Plantation?? I'm in Weston. Sounds like there isn't much you can do to make the beer dangerous to drink. I'm stoked. 49 year old CPA, don't take much guys to make me happy. LOL. Thanks again. John.

    Can I drink it??

As many of you fine fellow home brewers may have noticed, I've made many mistakes on my first dance here. Added water during fermentation, stirred the Wort, temperatures from 43 degrees to 78 degrees, pretty much everything you can do wrong. I've absolutely learned how to make batch #2...

    Help with my math??

Hahaha. Yes, looking forward to it. Got tired of waiting for "real" beer so just went out and got some Grolsh. Anyway, just back from Home Depot and got a new 5 cubic foot chest freezer. Set her up in the garage. Now waiting on the Johnson Controls Electronic Temperature Control Unit. Got...

    Help with my math??

Thanks all. This has been a learning experience for sure. But I'm loving it. Hey, what do you guys use to take sample readings? I had a hard time finding something around the house high enough, but not too wide to float the hydrometer in?? I'm also going to try to make a cooler of some kind...
