    Beer Dry Hopped with tomato

I plan on making a bloody Mary pale ale soon. I was gonna add tomatoes to the boil along with some peppers. Then I would add peppers soaked in vodka to the secondary.

American barleywines. I don't get it.

Barleywines are supposed to be sweet and less hoppy than a IPA. The high alcohol also contributes to the taste. It is also aged for more than a year.

    Mayhaw berry

Yeah it's a great hobby to have. I like brewing beer way more than making wine, but I still enjoy making wine for my wife.

    Infected? (picture)

Nice! I brewed an ipa last week and I only used citra hops. I will be dry hopping it next week. Hopefully I can find some whole leaf citra hops. I don't think I will use a hop bag after reading this though. Haha

    Infected? (picture)

Did you taste it? If not, go ahead and taste it. Thats the only way to confirm an infection. If it taste ok then skim that crap off the top and bottle it.

    Mayhaw berry

It's my first time making mayhaw. I have made 2 batches of grape concentrate. I just began home brewing and making wine about 6 months ago. So I'm still new to this and have a lot more learning to do.

How exactly do Bud/Miller/Coors brew such consistent beers??

I have a degree in process technology. Every manufacturing plant requires precision quality control to make their product consistent. Temperature, pressure, flow rate, level, and every other factor is controlled and gauged to an exact measurement every time. If one number is off, then the whole...

    Mayhaw berry

Yeah I really never heard of anyone boiling the berries,, but I figured it would kill any bacteria on them. I didn't want my wine to get infected.

    My experience with pineapple wine

Are you sure it wasn't infected? I was told that if it smelled like sewer then it is most likely infected.

    Mayhaw berry

Oh yeah, I used about 2 pounds of sugar. I ran out of cane sugar so I had to use a little corn sugar. I don't think that would make a difference though.

    Mayhaw berry

I didn't really follow an exact recipe. I had a gallon size freezer bag full of mayhaw berries with some blackberries mixed in, but not much. I put all the berries into a mesh bag then put the bag into a pot with a gallon of water. I brought it to boiling then turned the burner off. I swirled...

    Mayhaw berry

Check out this mayhaw berry I just racked. The color is very interesting. Has anyone else had this color before when making mayhaw berry wine?

Triple hops brewed? That's too strong for me....

It sickens me that anheuser busch, miller, and coors spend more money on ads alone than most craft breweries earn combined.

    Successful brew day!

Yeah gravity works just fine and it still only takes five to ten minutes to chill a 6 gallon batch.
