    Brewie

Check out Chicago Brew Werks (www.chicagobrewwerks.com). I buy all my supplies there. Really good selection of supplies and service. A side benefit is you can sample their beer while you are in the shop.

    Costco/Kirkland brand craft beer

I don't often say this about craft beer...in fact I never remember saying this...but, this Kirkland craft beer is crap. It is bitter, flavorless barley water. I made better beer than this in my first couple months of home brewing.

    Post your infection

It doesn't look infected at all. Saison yeast does have a barnyard funky smell which is quite desirable. When the SG stops dropping - probably less than 1.005 - keg/bottle and enjoy

5 Tips For the Apartment Brewer

That, sir, is a really good idea. You can go to the hardware store and purchase a barbed male hose fitting for your chiller hose attachment - also the hose and clamps you will need.

Is Hot Side Aeration total Bulls#$% or what?

The exBeerment convinces me. I was sure I had oxidized a batch a long time ago, but, after reading that, I am convinced it must have been something else.

Bad beer: Give it away, or dump it?

I agree. Evidently even my worst batch became reasonable. I drink all my mistakes. Age it and figure out how to save it.

    French press style hop/trub strainer?

I have a SS scrubby over my BK outlet and then run the hot wort through a hop - back (Hop Rocket) on the way to a plate chiller. Works great for filtering all the trub.

    Pbr, Oly or Rain

Ohhh...you are not old enough to remember...Red White and Blue beer. PBR was definitely a "premium" beer by comparison. I do have fond memories of RWB from the late 1970s, though. I used to have it on poker night. Without fail, by the 4th RWB, the awful sulfurous beer farts would begin.

    Where to get good supplies?

I have used most of the mentioned vendors, but I have gone a little different route. First, I have chosen to get my grain and most consumable supplies from my local home brew store, Chicago Brew Werks (chicagobrewwerks.com). Their prices are very reasonable and I really like the community...

    "Bottle Hopping" --- Anyone?

I've done it. It worked really well. I filled a few bottles from a keg of APA and dropped in each bottle 1/10th ounce of leaf Cascade. After 24 hours in the fridge I opened one. I poured carefully and the hops formed a plug in the neck of the bottle through which the beer filtered - like a...
