    New Here

Ron, that sounds pretty cool. Just be careful with older buildings. I've seen a lot of startups run through all their cash trying to appease the historical district and the city. I'm actually working on a brewery myself. We're starting with a 2.5bbl system that we purchased from a brewery that...

    Group buy in sacramento

My friend just opened a Homebrew Supply store in Rancho Cordova, his prices are much lower than the other Homebrew Supply shops around. I don't need to venture all the way out to MoreBeer anymore 😀 I think he gives a discount on first purchases to.

The Brewmeister is only good when your in a pinch. And they don't have a good hop selection

Brewmeister is like $10 more per sack than More Beer though. Just go on Craigslist and find someone that will commutes from the bay regularly. That's what I did and it only costs me a few 22s of home brew every month

    Spices for a winter ale

I do spiced ales all the time and normally add some spice and orange zest to my mash and than add my primary spice flavors into the secondary for 2-5 days. This way seems to work the best for me.

Have you tried anything new lately??

I was told that the experimental variety called 6300 is similar to the chocolate coconut. Has anyone tried the 6300 out?

Okay guys I just tried the pale ale out and it tastes pretty cool. It has a lot of spicy citrus notes and a nice coco butter/ coconut flavor to it. Its very interesting. I decided against dry hopping it because this variety seems pretty oily. I'm thinking next time I'm going to mix it with...

    2013 hops harvest

I harvested my first year hops last week and got 3 1/3 oz of Chinook and almost 2 oz of cascade after drying. But it looks like my cascade has new blossoms so I might get another oz or two.

Like I said, I need a better variety because I brew so often. I go to the brewmiester in roseville all the time and its a cool place when your in a pinch. That one on Auburn Blvd is my least favorite place to go. They never have a good malt selection all their products are covered in dust and...

I'm planning on going out to morebeer in a couple weeks to get some grain. I brew a lot and really need a better selection of bulk products. If anyone wants something hit me up. I'm planning to go the first week of October.

I had registered 10 beers but due to some family issues I was unable to send my beers in ontime. Next year its on!

So I'm still waiting for this beer to ferment but I can already tell this hop is unlike any hop I've ever used before. My pale ale was just a simple recipe of two row with a dash of crystal for color. The hops had a strong fruit floral smell throughout the boil and the finished wort tasted...

    are my cones ready

If they seem dry and papery on the outside and not soft and damp. They should also have a hoppy smell. Those look like they have lots of yellow lupulin but may not be done yet. I harvested some Chinook yesterday but only like 33% of the plant was ready to harvest.

Hop Hero says its an online store located in Sacramento CA... I've decided to also do a single hop Porter with this hop just because the hop flavor profile sounds like it would be epic with roasted malts. Ill keep everyone posted on these brews.

Funny things you've overheard about beer

One that I get all the time is when people first find out I'm making beer, they tell me to be careful not to poisen myself or blow up my kitchen... I would really like to know how the dangers of Meth labs has become associated with homebrewing???

I'm kind of a reclusive homebrewer myself. But that's just because I don't have a lot of free time between work and school. I do however, make a lot of beer. I also just started selling recipe kits and hops online. You should check it out I have a larger variety of hops than anyone else in...

    Dry hopping -

I have to agree with RICO. I use the same schedule and I always get good results. However, I have noticed that if I leave hops in for more than 7days I get more grassy flavors out of the hops.
