    Very Basic Regulator question

I just poked a finishing nail through it and now gas is coming through! It's such a tiny little opening in the middle, like a little 1 mm slit in the middle. Interesting that high PSI can go through that little space. Hopefully that's normal. Going to try and put it all together now...

    Very Basic Regulator question

I do see the gauges move when I turn on the tank. I have turned the screw clockwise and see it go from 5 to 15 psi, but still no gas. Then I unscrewed the flare fitting and I now get gas coming through. I tested out the flare fitting while it was off, water doesn't run through, I can't blow...

    Very Basic Regulator question

I just a built a kegerator and am trying to hook everything up. I'm a complete beginner with kegging so bear with me! I have a newly filled tank and just screwed on a really, really old regulator that was given to me. When I turned on the gas nothing happened. It doesn't have the red shut...

Dropped a chopstick in my carboy - Yikes!

I was poking hops through a funnel with a chopstick - secondary carboy full of delicious wheat beer. I stupidly dropped the chopstick in and it slid right down to the bottom I presume. I had previously sanitized the funnel and the bottom half of the chopstick but not the top. At first I...

Dry Erase Board alternative (fridge door)

Is there a cheaper alternative to using a dry erase board for the inside part of the door in a kegerator? For some reason they're all like $40 here. Why do people use these, not just to take notes right? It's for insulation and to keep condensation in? If there's a cheaper solution that's...

Kegerator Parts Order - double check

I'll be converting a Sylvania 4.5 cu fridge into a kegerator this month. I'll be following some of the guides on here (thanks Bradsul, mrx, beercanuck) This is my first venture into kegging so I just wanted to post my ideas and see if I'm doing everything right. I've read the FAQ but wanted to...

Do you think this will fit two cornies?

Thanks. I've seen that site and done the calculations based on it, but still I think it all depends on that raised part in the floor and I was wondering if anyone can eyeball these pictures better than me. Or maybe if anyone has converted this one before? I'm sort of leaning on the side...

Do you think this will fit two cornies?

I'm looking to buy a used fridge for a kegerator that will fit two cornies and a 5lb Co2. I'm looking at this one Danby 'Beverage Cooler' DBC120BLS - found a nice used one. I'll bring measuring tape and maybe cut out circular pieces of carboard to make sure they'll fit, but I was just curious...

    Help with partial mash efficiency

Cool, lesson learned about the hydrometer temp. I'm going to pop it in the freezer next time. I did mash at 155, not sure why I wrote 165. Even though I'm adding extract I'm still getting into the practice of trying to get efficient conversion from the partial mash, not just steeping. The...

    Help with partial mash efficiency

Oops, I don't why I wrote 165, that was the temp of the water before the grains went in, I kept it at about 155. Good to know about the hydro readings, I thought you could just put them in an online calculator and it would correct it, didn't know about the scaling, but I'll cool further down to...

    Help with partial mash efficiency

Thanks guys. That clears it up a bit and brings it down. I shouldn't have included the brown sugar in the original message/calculation. That was added 15 min before flameout along with half the DME - so not in the partial mash at all. So it's actually 181 (209 minus 28) - that's one error...

    Help with partial mash efficiency

My efficiency calculation came out WAY too high. I must be doing something wrong. Please let me know where you spot the error. Partial mash + extract, doppelbock-ish brew, sort of... 3.7 gallon stovetop mash, 45 min at 165, 10 min at 170 Grain------------------ PPG - Calculated 2#...
