    Maple Syrup

Well, I took peoples advice on where to order the REAL the maple syrup and have started drinking my brew. I have to say it is the best ever beer I ever brewed! I got the recipe from Clone Beers book and did a extract version. I gave some away for Christmas and everyone is banging on my door for...

    Brewery names--what's your story?

Screamin' Wife Brewery! Actually my SWMBO thought of this. I guess she got it from when I bottled in the laundry room and drip beer on the floor, she goes balistic if i dont get it all cleaned up.

When to go from Primary to Secondary (If at all)

Sometimes the krausen forms a "crust" that will not totally dissipate, so that is not a full proof indication either. I wait for the bubbles to drop off and watch the krausen levels, but usually I wait 7-10 days and take a hydro reading. My question was semi-answered here, what if the hydro...

    BJ's Brewhouse Austin Opens TODAY!

I asked about that also, they have the vats, but only use them to brew Root Beer, (this is in the Arlington TX one), I think its a TX law or something. I like the food but a tad over priced, service has SUCKED each time we go. I feel like I'm invisible most of the time. The beer was OK, I like...

    idophor question.

Be aware also if you use too much (dark color), chances are your going to stain your plastics like your racking bucket and tubing. Not a real big deal but when they are stained it is hard to notice if you missed something while cleaning.

Using My Beer Equipment To Deep Fry a Turkey

If you do it, be very careful of the area around the handle rivets, they tend to collect oil and it is very hard to remove. My first shot at brewing I borrowed a buddies turkey fryer pot to boil in, all came out fine, but there was a slight oil sheen floating on the wort. Was going to call it...

    Let's talk global warming...

You use the word "never" very loosely. How do you know you "never" had a drought there 1,000 years ago or 10,000 years ago. Where are your temp and hydro records from those times? Official record keeping of weather data didnt start until the late 1800's so that means we have 100+ years of "real"...

Extract addition in last 15min of boil?

I asked this question months ago on this site and the responders said to do the 1/2 and 1/2 solution to lighten the color. I did it with my Hefe and was very happy with the results. Ever since I have been doing this with great results. I tried a 1/4 to 3/4 (last 15 min.) with my latest Belgian...

    Let's talk global warming...

Im with EdWort on this topic... Im in a position dealing with the weather and have many scientific contacts in Gov't and Universities that study GW. Here is a quick excerpt from a friend who WAS on the IPCC: "Mother Nature simply operates at a level of complexity that is, at this point, beyond...

    Prohibition Returns!

Sorry, sleeping in your truck when your drunk is against the law too (in some states, OK for one), because you have posession of the keys, (in the ignition or in your pocket). In their mind, you can start the truck and drive drunk when they are gone. It is called APC (Actual Physical Control)...
