2 in 1: Keg Cleaner and Beer Line Cleaner

I have submersible pump that I'm putting in a bucket of PBW or Beer Line cleaner or starsan or just water. Then I have CIP Ball that I'll attach to a 1/2" copper pipe which will attach to the pump. I'll place a Tee then a Tee to branch off two connections for corny keg posts. The idea...

American Wheat Beer Orange American Wheat

I kegged my third (fourth?) batch today. Rocked it back and forth for 15min, then let it sit for an hour in the keezer. Tasted awesome! Three ounces of sweet orange is much better than two.

What I did for beer today

I melted together both lines on my wort chiller. I was so ANGRY! Now I have very short lines on my wort chiller. I am now relaxing with an orange wheat home brew. Ahhhh.

Why not Mash HI then LO?

Dang it! HI then LO would be so much easier. Oh well. By the way, I am nearly done with a keg of your DFH60. Not only was it awesome, but it has a tendency to sneak up on people while they're enjoying the hops. Love it.

Why not Mash HI then LO?

Some brewers include a step both at a low conversion temperature (say 145F/63 C) and a second mash step at high conversion temperature (say 155F/68 C). This results in very high sugar conversion, and a very clean, light bodied beer. It does this by activating both the alpha and beta amylase in...

A brand new yeast starter calculator

I've used this calculator twice now. I LIKE IT. It's become a part of my brew prep.

    Awesome IPA turns Foul

Ok. Oh Kay. This isn't over yet. I made a Stone IPA clone (Edwort) and killed it within a week or two with the help of neighbors. Never noticed anything except it just didn't have as strong a nose to it near the end. I followed that up with the most amazing Dogfish 60min clone (Yooper). It was...

    First 10G Batch, Ahhh!

Today is BREW DAY on my first ever 10G brew. Just wanted to challenge myself. 5G brews though fun, just aren't offering much in challenges like they used to. I'm not constantly trying to correct some mistake or worse a mis-perception. First off, I've read the posts and reviewed the pictures...

How picky are you about ABV?

My process or rather force of habit is strong enough and consistent enough that I don't check SG on FG anymore. In the beginning though, I was very meticulous and concerned. I just couldn't wrap my brain around the fact that I was getting drunk on my own brew. I mean there was alcohol in...

    Awesome IPA turns Foul

Kegged. Not vinegar. Dank, off. How old? Near a month, but I thought IPAs had a good lifespan. Reminded me of a hefeweizen that you failed to drink within a month of kegging or maybe two months after kegging.

Can homebrew make me go blind?

Ok, ok, prison wine. First sneak a juice into your room each day until you have enough to 3/4 fill the glass jar you managed to steal from the kitchen. Add the occasional sugar packet if your lucky. Get a couple of cracker packets, crumble into a clean sock. Pour juice into the sock into the...

When to put my harvested yeast in the fridge?

I harvest yeast too. I'm sure I've saved a hundred dollars a years doing so. I typically wait about 20 min at each stage. 20 min bucket rest, 20 min growler rest, then pour into 4 mason jars and off to the fridge. LABEL the jars. Yes, label the jars with the yeast name and date of harvest. I...

    Awesome IPA turns Foul

My buddy, on his fifth brew and second all grain, brews this fabulous Bell's clone. I like it better than the original, it's just awesome. After a couple of weeks of making excuses to visit for the off chance that he'll offer me a glass of his IPA, I notice the beer tastes foul, dank. I'm...

    Kiss Your Cousin Kentucky Common

About a month ago, I brewed the below recipe from Revvy, Kiss Your Cousin Kentucky Common. I made one big mistake, left the lid on my kettle the whole boil. So, I didn't realize my true boil off. I had way too much wort with a low SG going into my fermentor. Despite that, the beer is yummy...

    My recipe, your guess.

The mystery recipe... EDWORT'S STONE IPA !! Unbelievable. Here I am looking for inspiration for my next brew day and I find the recipe, finally.

    My recipe, your guess.

Not PacMan. San Diego Super Yeast WLP090. No starter. This beer will be my starter and I'll harvest afterward.

    My recipe, your guess.

I'm using PacMan today. Again, I bought this yeast specifically for that recipe... still hasn't come back to me. My extra hops are 0.5 oz Citra and 0.4 Amarillo.

    My recipe, your guess.

Several weeks ago, I went out and bought some grains and hops with a recipe I found here on HBT. 10.5 Pale 1 Munich 1 C20 3 oz Centenial 1 oz Warrior I've lost the recipe. Have no idea what this beer will turn out as. I'm sure I'll remember the recipe, half way through my boil...
