Brewing a Dubbel as we speak......SHould I add the syrup at the beginning or end of the boil? I know that it makes a difference in hop utilization, but according to Beersmith, the difference is negligable.

    When to plant....

I have my rhizomes in my fridge. I would plant them now, but I am moving in about one month. The plan is to plant them in pots and carfully transplant them at the beginning of June. My only real concern is that I need them to still fit in my car when I move them. How high will first year...

    Welds are done.

Advice needed on those with welding knowledge!! I got my keggles welded (good price). he checked them for leaks after he was finished. The interior looks a little rough, but I figured that for a HLT and boil kettle it would be fine. Is there anything I can or should do to clean it up...

    Keg valve ?

Can anyone help me with this? I have seen how to remove the valves, however this one is different. It looks as if there is a cover over where the ball valve would be. https://cdn.homebrewtalk.com/gallery/data/1/keg_top.jpg (hope the link/picture works!)

Hi all, I have my starter going. I was planning on cold crashing it tonight although it will have only been about 36 hours. How long does one need to cold crash it for? I am not brewing until about 3PM tomorrow, so I could theoretically put it in the fridge tomorrow at 7AM and bring it out...

    Drill on Barley Crusher

Hi, I hooked up my drill to the BC to test it out. It seems to make a noise as if not rotating straight. Is my drill not attached properly (tried 5 times)? Or, is this a normal sound? Thanks

    New manifold question...

Hi all, I am converting my cooler from a SS braid (broke) to a CPVC manifold. It is a bit off-centered. Question: Should I trim it to make it more equidistant from the walls, or just leave it as is? Thanks BTW - I have since adjusted it a bit so that the pipes are more parallel

    Witbier Fermentation Schedule

Hi all, Brewed a wit last wednesday and it seems to have finished fermenting. Our original plan was to leave it 2 weeks in primary and go straight to bottles. We want to reuse the yeast cake and the only opporunity to brew would put us bottling after only 9 days. Is this rushing it way too...

    Husked vs De-husked

Hi, Been looking at doing a couple of recipes using Carafa. They call for de-husked but all I can find locally is husked. Will there be a huge difference? One recipe is a stout(6-7oz) and the other is the Stone 11th anniv. (there was a thread on it a while back). I know that the...

    another yeast cake question!

About to re-use my yeast cake for the first time..... I know that some don't clean the Krausen ring or anything, but should we do any cleaning of the fermentor at all? I am thinking of replacing the stopper and cleaning the blow-off tube from the previous batch. When time to rack, we can...
