    Gelatin Use

Now that I have switched from extract brewing to the BIAB method, my lighter and amber beers are cloudy. In the bottle they were clear, but put them in the fridge and chill haze takes over and they are cloudy. I have read and understand the many causes of chill haze. I already use Whirfloc. I...

    beer water filtration

Considering buying the water filtration system from Midwest brewing instead of buying 8 gallons/70 lbs of spring water and lugging it home from the store. Cost is $40 and filters chlorine. Anyone have a better idea or use something as good?

    Biab efficiency

Looking to improve the 62-64% efficiency I get with biab. Any tried and true methods people are using?

    Brew in a bag.

Recently switched to all grain with the biab method. Discovered my nylon bag was not big enough for my 10 gallon pot. Anyone have an idea where I can get a bag? The hardware store only had 5 gallon size.

    Turbinado

Going to use turbinado to carb the bottles of a dark amber ale. Beersmith and northern brewer calculators say to use the same amount as I would if it was table sugar. Has anyone had any good or bad effects using unprocessed sucrose?

    Pumpkin ale

It's getting close to the time of year when I start thinking seasonally. I would like to do an extract pumpkin ale. Northern brewer has a kit, but it looks like a regular pale ale with pumpkin spice added. My wife DOES not like over powering flavors in her beer, but rather hints. Anyone have...

    amber ale question

Made an amber ale recipe using 4 lbs of light DME and 6 lbs of speciality Steeping grains. I had the grains crushed at my lhbs. After cooling the wort and running it through a medium filter into my fermenting bucket, I noticed I had a lot of dust and hulls and bits from all those speciality...

    American pale ale

Going to brew an extract version of an American pale ale. Using 6 lbs of Briess gold extract, Steeping carapils and crystal malt 10, and some cascade hops. ABV around 4.5%, Ibu 25. Want to keep it light, refreshing, summer beer. Anyone have any suggestions for a summer pale ale?

    corn sugar vs. table sugar

It's an age old debate, wondering if anyone has any thoughts? Like better carbing, or quicker, any off taste of one vs the other.

    Brewing Log

I Started using the "BrewR" app for making recipes and keeping a log of my brewing. Seems to be a pretty solid app with room to expand. The app allows you to add ingredients not listed in the database. How do I find out the SRM of various extract kits sold in kits?

    Black ale and Heifweizen question.

Really like the taste of new belgiums black ale, 1554. Want to try and brew an extract batch of it. Austin home brew sells a kit, but sells lager yeast with it. Can you use lager yeast without cold fermenting or should I stick to a German ale yeast? Tommorrow is brew day for a Heifweizen...

    Extra Pale Ale

On my 3rd extract brewing kit. I Got the northern brewer pale ale kit for summer. Going to brew this weekend. Any one done it? Have any advice? Looking for a summer ale with a good taste.

    pruning sugar

I used brewers best priming sugar, 5 oz for 5 gallons. It came in a kit. I dissolved it and sterilized it in water, let it cool and added it to the bottling bucket, just as instructions stated. However, my beer bottles have only a little carbonation and not quite enough. I conditioned them for...

    honey nut ale

Going to brew a honey nut extract kit. There are a lot of opinions on when to add the honey to the wort. Anyone have any personal experience?
