Should New Breweries Have A Dump Fund?

Admittedly I only have homebrewing experience but I 100% agree and this article addresses a real issue. Customers line up before the building is finished and I am sure that expenses are often higher than expected when opening but I would most definitely bake test batch expense into my opening...

    Mash technique question

Sorry for the lack of detail. We will be getting a wort that will work out to be approx 1.060 og according to the brewer. This is a 2nd run from a barley wine so their will be plenty left in the grain. I wanted to try and give the original wort a slightly different character and I am going to...

    Mash technique question

I am participating in a local breweries 2nd runnings contest. Brewers will get a wort to use however they see fit. We are free to add whatever we would like with this one. I am taking advantage of this to try and brew an EIPA, more for myself and less for the contest. I want to add a bit...

Saison Boulevard Smokestack Series Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale Clone

Mine got down to 1.012. I had to keep the temps up to finish it off and that was a low as the 3724 would go for me.

Saison Boulevard Smokestack Series Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale Clone

+1 for the starter This was my first brew with 3724. I was able to move mine up to 85° after a 3-4 days in the high 60's and even bumped it to low-mid 90's after a couple weeks for 4-5 days then back to 85°. It finished, but it took close to a month to ferment then I dry hopped. I just...

Saison Boulevard Smokestack Series Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale Clone

I am still waiting on the 3724 yeast to finish. It really is a turtle but hopefully the wait pays off. It's close but it needs another week or two.

Saison Boulevard Smokestack Series Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale Clone

Nice Schumed! Thanks for sharing the info. I just brewed my first attempt at this one. This is what I came up with based on everyone's suggestions and I went the original suggestion of more wheat for the first try. 5.5gal batch 11lb Pale belg 2 row 3lb Flaked Corn 1.4 Wheat (1.5 oz of carafa...

    Newbie burner question

Thanks for the advice everyone! I am going to try and switch the regulator out and go from there. I did check all hoses and hookups and everything seems fine. Hopefully a few upgrades will do the trick.

    Newbie burner question

I just converted from partial mash to all grain and in the process purchased a 10 gallon polar brew kettle to replace the 5 gal I had. I have a Bayou Classic SP50 propane burner that could get 5 gallons raging in my old pot but with 7 gallons in the polar, the burner could not keep the boil...

Dry hop question when using large amounts of pellets

Thanks everyone. I think I am going to put them in loose and try to cold crash it. That seems to be the easiest thing. I purchased the kit from NB and the mix for dry hopping came pre-packed in that amount. It should be interesting to see how this works out!

Dry hop question when using large amounts of pellets

I have brewed a handful of beers and I am getting ready to dry hop a Surly Furious clone. The 8oz of pellets are more than I ever used to dry hop and I am wondering if I should use a small hop bag or just pour them in? I have never dry hopped with more than 2oz of pellets and always just...

3 FLoyds Zombie Dust attempt. Help/info requested

I am going to brew the extract version of this in a few days. I will post up how it goes and appreciate and pointers on this one in advance. This will be my 3rd beer I have brewed but I just had some ZD and loved it!
