American Pale Ale 15 Minute Cascade Pale Ale

Brewed this tonight. Super easy. I used Amarillo during the boil and added a little Crystal 120L to give it a little more color. Also used a Kolsch yeast. I changed the first hop addition from 15 to 12 min (based on Beersmith) to bring down the IBUs a bit for SWMBO. I will dry hop with the...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Two going this weekend. First is a quick Pale Ale. Added a little C120L to make it a little red and I'm using a Kolch yeast. Second is an IPA. Should have both going by New Year's Day so I can watch some football. Carboys for Christmas was a good choice on my part.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewing up an Oatmeal Stout. First stout I've made, so I'm excited. Got my starter going yesterday (~1.2L). I'm worried about the mash because my false bottom got clogged at the end of my second sparge on my last batch.

    Star San

Don't sweat it. Think of it this way; if the foam is leaving the keg or carboy as you fill it, no baddies are going in.

    Saison Cottage House Saison

I'm about 2 weeks into fermentation, and the temp has been steady in the high 60's. I know it says to raise the temp to 78, but I don't have a way to do this. Will that make a huge difference? Any suggestions? When I first chose to brew this I didn't stress too much about it, but now am...

What came in the mail for you today?

2 5 gallon ball-locks kegs from Keg Connection. I ordered before I knew there would be a sale, but I'm happy none the less.

    Saison Cottage House Saison

I brewed this recipe yesterday, and even went out and got a bottle of Saison Dupont to enjoy during the process. For my second all-grain batch, I was pretty happy. Hit my OG dead on, but I had a little trouble with post-boil volume because I guess I didn't have a hard-enough rolling boil...

What came in the mail for you today?

Refractometer from Amazon. List price $89.99, got it for under $30 AND used a $25 gift card I have been saving. I basically just paid for shipping and handling. SCORE!!

Lots of yeast in bottles after prolonged cold storage

I brewed and bottled a Dead Guy Ale clone last Feb and all seemed to go well. Once bottled, it took quite a while to get carbonation, but after letting it sit for weeks I was happy with the results. I had a couple six packs buried in my keezer and decided to pull one out recently. I was...

oh no!! running low on home brew!

I'm in trouble as well. I've brewed 4 batches since Jan, but it's too warm here to ferment without a fermentation chamber (which I haven't built yet!). I'm starting to run low and need to get off my arse and get some temp control or I'm done until next fall.

    Carboy brewing accident

In my short time on the boards I've read about glass carbons breaking a few times and it never ended well. I think I will be switching to BB now.

    Corny Source

I ordered 2 ball-locks kegs from kegconnection and they arrived today. They are both in great condition and are relatively clean (one still has the soda smell....oxycleaning as I write this). I think I'm a little too excited....dare I say giddy?

    Weissbier Simple Hefeweizen

Bottling this recipe tonight after a 10 day fermentation. Looks like I should be able to crack open my first bottle in about a week. More importantly, this should the last batch I "have" to bottle. As I sat last night at the sink, rinsing and rinsing and rinsing bottles, I thought to myself...

    Weissbier Simple Hefeweizen

Probably bottling. I am trying to get a kegging system up and running. All I need is a chest freezer and some cornys. I'm a little worried that SWMBO will not go for the chest freezer idea, so I'm debating on going with a smaller Kegerator and using the therm controller for a smaller...

Brewed this recipe today, looking forward to the quick turnaround.

    cleaning bottles with steam?

I think the steam is a great idea, but I would leave out the water rinse step. Maybe just steam them and place them on a bottle tree or in the dishwasher.

    New guy from South Carolina

Hello all. I have recently gotten back into brewing after several years. My first go around was in college with mixed results. I have the bug again, and with my girls being a little older, I now have some time to put into brewing. I'm on my third batch and have used this site several times...
