    Fermentation questions

The wife won't allow! And we don't really have room. I'll work on it as I know how important it is to have stable conditions. It's in a cool, protected place, out of the sun and the elements

    Fermentation questions

This had been really helpful. My fermenter is outside. Do you think I should consider bottling earlier than usual to limit the risk of bugs etc getting in?

    Is my beer infected?

Are there any sound reasons you think the batch could be infected? Did you use sanitary measures? Did everything that touched your wort after boiled and cooled clean and sanitized? If yes you have nothing to really worry about. Yeah I sanitized everything but only second batch so could be...

    Is my beer infected?

Yeah it smells ok. I tried to keep the temp to around 20 but not mastered that yet. I'm in a small flat with no room inside so needs to outside (not to mention the wife doesn't want it in the apartment!) so it's in a protected area in the stairwell. Not ideal

    Is my beer infected?

This is my ipa, day 5 in primary. Temp about 24 degrees. Second ever brew. It looks worse in the photo, there is a hop bag at the top of the picture but not sure about the other white bits. Theyre kind of foamy. Beer smells ok at the moment. Should I chuck it away??

    Ice in brew before fermentation

I'm mixing a kit and instead of adding water to get to the 23 liter mark I'm considering adding some ice some water before pitching to keep the temp if the mix relatively low. I'm Probably completely wrong!?

Thank you all. Some great advice there! I appreciate it. Next batch is going to be Thomas coopers Ipa with 1kg liquid malt extract. I have some muntons hops bags to add. Will keep the temp cooler, use bottled water and leave longer in primary. I'll see how this goes and then possibly move on...

Bad taste - coopers diy kit

I put the lager kit in, with coopers brew enhancer 1. That was it. Temp ranged from 28 to 22 degrees. I thought it was fully fermented before bottling. Sg reading was consistent over 2 days
