    Food grade garden sprayer?

Hey guys, I'm in the final stretch of building my new back porch brewery (1/2BBL electric system) and I'm trying to find a good way to provide water for brewing and cleaning. Fortunately I'm brewing where a washer/dryer once was, so I have a hot and cold water supply behind my brew table...

Memorial Day False Bottom Free Shipping

Order #1992. Had to pay for shipping to complete the order, so hopefully you can just refund it. Thanks!

    RIMS for Dummies

Ok guys... I've been reading through this massive thread, and I have a few questions. If they're answered somewhere else in this thread, I apologize... it's a long read. 1: Those of you running a thermocouple in the mash and RIMS: Do you find that running the PID controller off of the RIMS...

Electric keg system; port in bottom

It is 2". I bought a 2"-1" adapter to give even more of a funnel, then used a 1" to 1/2" NPT adapter. In order for the tri clamp to attach to the keg, the lip has to be shaved off the side of the gasket that faces the keg. I haven't leak tested it yet, but the gasket expanded nicely and I'm...

Electric keg system; port in bottom

Yeah, I don't mind trub for yeast food, but when I make a really hoppy IPA a lot of hob detritus ends up in the primary.

Electric keg system; port in bottom

Definitely a nice solution, and clean. At $20 an outlet (I'd need a tri clover to NPT adaptor, gasket, and clamp, right? I've never used tri clover), I think I'll just stick to welding the couplings in, but I'll look at the inside of the top opening and think about it some more. I suppose I...

Electric keg system; port in bottom

I'm building an entirely new system here, so I haven't got there yet. The plan was simply use a false bottom in the kettle to strain hops, but that doesn't help with trub. I think I'll be investing in a plate chiller. Is there a simple inline filter that might aerate as well?

Electric keg system; port in bottom

I thought about that, but it seemed cheaper to weld in a coupler than adapt the keg port to a plumbed fitting.

Electric keg system; port in bottom

I'm building a new brewing system using kegs, and am planning on using electric elements in the HLT and kettle, and RIMS for the mash. Is there any good reason not to simply weld the drain port in the bottom center of the kegs? My last system was propane-fired, and the low drain ports presented...

    New keezer system; advice/opinions sought

Getting somewhere! The frugal side of me decided that the cheapest way to buy a temperature controller was to piece one together using a PID controller, even though I knew nothing about PIDs and have never used one. It didn't help that the instructions were in barely understandable "chinglish"...

    Mini fridge as glycol cooler?

Does anyone know how cold a mini fridge will go with the freezer divider removed? I'm considering using one for a line cooler.

    New keezer system; advice/opinions sought

A different guy at the same supplier seems to think that this short a run will have no problem with 12 PSI serving, so I'll just try straight CO2 first. I may have questions regarding appropriate pressures burst carbonating if I end up going with a mix.

    New keezer system; advice/opinions sought

I hadn't seen that thread... thanks! It looks exactly like what i've done, but I don't think my pump is adequate. I bought a cheapy from Harbor Freight (you get what you pay for, I guess) that claims it can push 11.2' head. Mine is about 10', so I thought it would be fine. After sucking on the...

    New keezer system; advice/opinions sought

Ok, after a bit of reasearch (talking it through with my aerospace engineer dad), I get it now. The return side won't begin to create a vacuum (siphon) until it weighs more than the send side, so the head requirement of the pump won't be affected by the system being looped. Off to look at pumps...

    New keezer system; advice/opinions sought

The only part that's a real PITA is having to have 2 bottles: One for carbonating, and another (the mix) for serving. Luckily I already have two, but that's just one more thing to have run out and need to pay for.

    New keezer system; advice/opinions sought

Thanks, VB. I'm still working out that part of the system, but my lines were based on the recommendation of my supplier, who installs commercially here in Portland, OR. They suggested that without a pump, I should get a 70/30 mix of nitro/CO2 to push the beer, so I can crank the pressure up...

Show us your CUSTOM wood tap handles!!

I'll have to see if I can dig a few more up, but I always liked my "whatever I can find lying around" approach... crown moulding, a bit of that plum tree I cut down last summer, a broken hammer handle... These are all old ones from 6-8 years ago I just dug out of a bin. O.G., F.G. ABV, IBU, etc...

    New keezer system; advice/opinions sought

I added some pictures of the work I did today. I haven't bundled/insulated the lines in the basement yet, because I have to figure out whether or not I can drill through the side of the chest freezer or not (anyone have experience with this model?). I'd rather not make a collar, as the thing was...

    New keezer system; advice/opinions sought

Hey guys, This is my first post, so feel free to flame me or yell at me to use the search function if the answer to my question is out there somewhere... ;) I'm handing off my old $25 goodwill-scored kegerator to my brother, and installing a whole new system. I got a GE 7.0 cf at Best Buy...
