Brewbuilt Pressure Pack floating dip tube issue.

The floating dip tube does move clear beer and the samples are way better than the sample port. I like the idea of the guide wire. Something that holds the pickup toward the back of the fermenter would be great.

Brewbuilt Pressure Pack floating dip tube issue.

Agreed. I’m deciding if I want to set up to just pull out of the bottom instead. I already have a sight glass and valves I could use.

Brewbuilt Pressure Pack floating dip tube issue.

Sorry, I might not have been clear, the thermowells in the X3 come in from a port on the side near the top of the cone. I took my 4” pressure pack lid off after I got hung up this time and the silicone tubing was draped over the heating element/wand, which makes sense considering it extends...

Brewbuilt Pressure Pack floating dip tube issue.

Anyone use the pressure pack on the brewbuilt unitank (X3) and have issues with a pressure transfer using the floating dip tube? I have the 14 gallon model and for my last two batches the dip tube gets caught on either the thermowell or the heating element and starts blowing CO2 while there is...

    Whirlpool Alternative?

1-4 hrs!! Maybe that’s my problem. Not enough patience. I’m always ready to get that stuff in the fermenter. I guess I’ve always thought it needed to be moved and yeast pitched fairly quickly to avoid bugs.

    Whirlpool Alternative?

Thanks for the run down of options. Overall objective is to make the best beer without being wasteful. I spent years brewing in an aluminum kettle without a valve. Full dump into the bucket/carboy. Always made good beer. I've added gadgets over the years, so just always chasing gains and trying...

    Whirlpool Alternative?

This is what I had in mind. Seems way simpler than trying to whirlpool and fuss with exactly how much I was going to leave behind in the fermenter.

    Whirlpool Alternative?

Yeah, I’ve been a “dump it all in” guy for a long time, so just trying something new. My latest attempt I started the pump output along the side of the kettle to create the whirlpool for a couple minutes. Then let it settle for 10 minutes before starting the transfer to the fermenter. That break...

    Whirlpool Alternative?

My whirlpool attempts have always given me mixed results so I was thinking of some alternatives. I tend to leave behind quite a bit of wort in the boil kettle to keep from pulling too much break material into the FV. I recently picked up a conical fermenter and I was wondering if I could...

Oh, I totally understand. I just think all that stainless is so pretty!!

    New Fermenter Shopping

Man, I just hate to have such a pretty fermenter hidden away in a freezer. I’ve just started using an old chest freezer as a ferm chamber and it does hold rock solid temps though. It’s just too big for what I want to do with my space. I’m still pondering and waiting to see what happens on Black...

    About to give up!

I actually have one setup for that. This beer was going to get turned around and consumed within two weeks so I decided not to use up the CO2 since I wasn’t too worried about long term oxidation issues. I added a conical unitank to the shopping cart this morning during my frustration. But...

    About to give up!

Definitely could have been worse. My last two brew days have gone very well, so I’m guessing the universe had to even the score just a little bit. Don’t want me getting too much confidence 😂😂

    About to give up!

Apparently the valve on one of the fermonsters was cracked. Once I kegged what I had I went to investigate and it broke off in my hand with minimal force. Ended up losing a bit during the kegging process as well as it was pouring out the bottom. Ended up with about half a batch. Probably...

Anybody else ever feel like piling all your stuff up and setting it ablaze?

Large amount of solids in boil

I’ve brewed so many batches in an old aluminum kettle and just dumped every bit of hop matter and hot/cold break into the FV that I don’t get too worked up about some bits making their way into the fermentation. I was just a little shocked by the amount of hot break in this one.

Large amount of solids in boil

Thought so. I guess I just never noticed that kind of volume.

Large amount of solids in boil

Shoot. Forgot to add. This is a hefe, so just shy of 50% white wheat malt. Thought that might matter.

Large amount of solids in boil

I might be guilty of not paying full attention in the past, but I really can’t remember seeing this amount of solids during my boil. Just curious if this anything to worry about. Also, just happy to know what exactly I’m seeing here regardless.
