English Ales - What's your favorite recipe?

Yeah that’s why I say I’m “inspired” by that beer, just taking what is on their website for ingredients - no brewer will ever “clone” it 😁🍺

English Ales - What's your favorite recipe?

Here’s my latest Landlord-inspired Pale Ale. I’ve brewed this a few times and really enjoy the hop combo. Turned out great. 100% golden promise Fuggle, EKG, Styrian Goldings Verdant Bottle Conditioned

English Ales - What's your favorite recipe?

There’s plenty of recipes on Ron’s blog - the posts start with “Let’s Brew” http://barclayperkins.blogspot.com/2017/06/lets-brew-1862-barclay-perkins-xx.html?m=1

English Ales - What's your favorite recipe?

Packaging - just wanted to pass on a tip (possibly). I’ve been brewing for a pretty long time and started bottle conditioning, went to kegging and even cask beer with an engine. I’m now back to bottle conditioning and will probably be staying there. I brew 80% British style and 15% Belgian...

    Recommend a Factory Porter

Founders Porter is the most accessible and fresh if you are in the US. I buy a couple 6packs a year Porter | Robust Porter | Founders Brewing Co.

    Base malt online suppliers

If I had the option in those malts, I’d go with Maris Otter, but yeah it’s confusing- the Pale ale malt that briess makes tries to mimic Maris Otter, but it’s not that malt. I’m probably confusing you more 😂

English Ales - What's your favorite recipe?

Not sure I’ve noticed vanilla in that yeast, but it’s become my favorite British dry yeast and now pretty much use that and Nottingham on occasion. It reminds me of Conan which is also a British yeast, has good fruitiness and floccs nicely. It also ferments dry which I appreciate, but I also...

English Ales - What's your favorite recipe?

I just brewed a Landlord Recipe this past weekend and always go with 100% golden promise - I feel like the hop bill is what makes that beer unique. It’s my 3rd time brewing it and am amazed at how complex the beer turns out. I like verdant to ferment it but I’m not going for a clone, I’m just...

English Ales - What's your favorite recipe?

Brewed this beer from the Camra BYO British Real Ale. This is a the recipe of Haviestoun Ptarmigan Golden ale, a Scottish Brewery. I dropped a couple of malts (black and crystal) as their recipe on their website was updated from the book. Very tasty and clearing up nicely. Bottle conditioned.

    Base malt online suppliers

Ended up at morebeer, still the best price with free ship and 10% off. Ritebrew was also a good option but a bit more $ with the shipping

    Base malt online suppliers

Thanks for the info, will look at the above recommendations - I’ve been part of Homebrew club, it has fizzled out but yeah we used to do buys from local breweries. I brew small now, 2.5 gallon so the 5lb bags work great for my beers.

    Base malt online suppliers

Hello - shipping has really gone up and I’m wondering who has decent prices on base malts online these days. I’m not looking for full bags but maybe 10lbs x2? Is morebeer free ship at $59 still the best? Any ideas? Thanks.

    Hop tea

I’ve done it a few times to increase bitterness, but didn’t get much aroma. I steeped hops in a French press at about 160 degrees for 10-15 minutes. Works great for hop tea added to sparkling water.

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

I have the 6.5 and don’t use the pump - you just have to lift the basket a few times during your brew to keep from losing efficiency. Depends on how precise a brewer you are - I lose maybe 2-3 degrees in the mash with power off - you can always keep the temp stable in the mash leaving the power...

English Ales - What's your favorite recipe?

Cheers and Happy Holidays! Here’s a snap of my Xmas beer based off of Ringwood Old Thumper recipe in CAMRA’s Brew Recipe book by Graham Wheeler. I haven’t had much of a chance to brew much this past year, so nice to have a brew for the holidays. I bottle conditioned in 22oz. Marris Otter...

Can you add bitterness to a finished beer?

I’ve used hop tea with good results. Steeped in 170 degree water in a French press - strained and poured directly into the keg.
